A home that listens to the forest. Designed to bridge the gap between lush Coorg greenery and interior calm, this estate blends laterite, terracotta, and timber into a quiet retreat.

The wooden mezzanine lounge is a perch in the sky, offering a meditative seat to watch the seasons turn. The soaring terracotta-tiled roof and hand-turned balustrades frame the forest view, making the landscape a living part of the room.

The high, vaulted ceiling with its grid of terracotta tiles and skylights is a defining feature of this home. It draws heat upward, keeping the living space cool, while casting magical light patterns that shift from morning to twilight.

The formal living room is a study in volume and light. A twenty-foot ceiling, hand-chiseled stone flooring, and a mix of new and upcycled antique furniture create a sanctuary where the boundary between architecture and nature dissolves.

A reclaimed wooden column stands as a silent witness in the living space, grounding the double-height room. Every element, from the jewel-toned upholstery to the large doors, is chosen to draw the eye outward towards the deck and garden.

This home is designed to be experienced through its thresholds. From the courtyard, warm terracotta walls and carved timber frames invite you inward, where a quiet glow promises a space of calm and sacred silence.

The entrance hall is anchored by timeworn wooden columns and a gently swaying swing, creating a space that is both ceremonial and soft. Hand-laid tiles and a teak wood mezzanine overhead complete this picture of modern heritage.

As dusk gathers, the courtyard becomes a space of quiet reflection. Terracotta walls soak in the last light, and rain chains glint softly, framing an entry that feels both timeless and sacred.

This view from the living area looks onto the mezzanine lounge, showcasing how I design interconnected spaces. The wooden balustrades and open views create a sense of unity, while the distinct areas retain their own intimate character.

Every room in this estate tells a story of sunlight and silence. From the soft green of a guest suite to the mustard glow of another bedroom, each space is a quiet retreat wrapped in woven textures and sunlit timber.

About Dream Coffee Estate: A Coorg Sanctuary

While the visuals capture the serenity of the home, the construction was a complex exercise in climate management. We worked with local craftsmen to balance the region's heavy rainfall with high-volume, breathable ceilings that keep living spaces naturally cool. This involved sourcing laterite stone that withstands high humidity, ensuring the structure functions as a living part of the forest rather than fighting against it.
