Yoga Philosophy: Why I Teach Yoga as Medicine
Yoga isn't just about poses; it's the real medicine. Here is the 'why' behind my teaching and how we make fitness, not chores, a part of your daily life.
Exercise is the world's best medicine. If you take this one medicine, you might not need any others. Here, my students demonstrate partner poses that build strength and trust, embodying this philosophy.
Do you ever forget to brush your teeth? Then why do we forget to exercise? Health is something we only value when it's gone. I believe in making exercise a non-negotiable part of your daily routine.
Before you lift weights, learn to lift your own body weight first. That is what makes you truly strong. My students here are building foundational strength using their own bodies and simple props.
As cricketers Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma say, your mind gets tired, not your body. A strong mind is the key to a strong game, in cricket and in life. Here, I help a student push past their mental limits.
In moments of darkness, you are not being buried, you are being planted. Growth begins in the toughest times. This student, using ropes for a deep backbend, embodies the strength that comes from adversity.
Is yoga enough for weight loss? Unlike the gym which can cause stiffness, yoga builds lean muscle, boosts metabolism, and improves flexibility for holistic, long-term fitness without injury.
When Shilpa Shetty inspires, my yoga school delivers. Here, a student recreates an iconic and challenging yoga move, showing that with dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
In this interview with a young student, I share my journey from finance to yoga and my core beliefs. I explain why yoga is the world's best medicine and how it brings peace, happiness, and strength.
We are honored to be rated as one of the top 3 best yoga classes in Mumbai. This is a testament to the hard work of my students and our shared journey towards health and wellness.
Inversions, where the heart is above the head, and the world feels right. My students here are finding a new perspective and building strength and balance together.
About My Yoga Philosophy & Inspiration
I didn't start my journey on a yoga mat; I found it while working in finance. That's why I treat yoga as a medical intervention, not a hobby. When you walk into my Vile Parle studio, we don't just 'stretch.' We use wall ropes, aerial hammocks, and chairs to fix specific issues like chronic back pain or posture imbalances. If you are tired of generic fitness routines that leave you feeling stiff, let's talk about how to actually fix the root cause.
Why I Call Yoga 'Medicine'
We live in a world where we pop a pill for every headache or backache. My philosophy is simple: 'Health hai toh future hai' (If you have health, you have a future). If you don't take the time to move your body, you will eventually have to take time to manage your illness. I teach yoga to ensure you remain independent and active, not reliant on medicines.
My Journey from Finance to the Mat
I didn't start as a trainer. I was in finance, stressed and desk-bound, until I discovered yoga. It didn't just change my body; it changed my mind. I realized that the calm and strength I found should be available to everyone, whether you are a corporate professional with neck pain or a kid struggling to focus. That is why I left the spreadsheet world to start this school.
The 'Rs Yoga' Approach
My sessions are designed to be practical, not fancy.
- Props are Essential: We use wall ropes, aerial hammocks, and Iyengar chairs. These aren't just for 'cool' photos; they are tools to help you hold poses longer and correct your alignment safely.
- Root Cause Focus: If you come to me with a hunchback, we don't just do basic stretches. We work on your thoracic mobility and pelvic tilt using specific props.
- No Boredom: Fitness should be masti (fun). If it's boring, you won't do it. We include games, challenges, and partner work because consistency beats intensity every single time.
Whether you are based in Vile Parle or anywhere in Mumbai, my goal is to guide you through a journey where body and mind are in sync.
