Hands-on Fabric & Printing Workshops
Forget textbooks. Master the art of textiles and surface ornamentation through real-world experience, guided market trips, and direct mentorship.
A crucial part of my curriculum is practical fabric exploration. I take my students to textile markets so they can touch and feel different materials, from silks to cottons, and learn how to select the right fabric for their designs.
This video shows the energy of our hands-on block printing class. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, students learn to handle the blocks, apply dye, and create beautiful, repeating patterns on fabric.
About Hands-On Fabric & Printing Workshops
Fabric knowledge isn't learned from textbooks, it is about touching the weave, understanding the drape, and seeing how it holds dye. In my sessions, we skip the dry theory and go straight to local textile markets. You will learn to distinguish pure silk from synthetics and master the precise pressure needed for perfect block printing, giving you the confidence to source and create your own designs.
This is not just another workshop, it is an immersive experience designed to bridge the gap between imagination and reality. We start by deconstructing fabrics. You will learn the difference between handloom and power loom, how Zari quality varies, and why selecting the right textile is half of the design process. We bring this knowledge to life with guided field trips to Bengaluru’s fabric markets.
Once you understand your materials, we move to surface ornamentation. You will get hands-on experience with block printing, tie and dye techniques, and freehand fabric painting. My approach is simple: learn by doing. Whether you are a hobbyist or someone looking to launch a clothing line, these modules are built to give you the practical toolkit I wish I had when I started my own 3000 sq ft boutique.
We balance these creative sessions with business insights. Every class starts with a sound healing session to clear your mind, followed by intensive training that covers SWOT analysis and studio management. My goal is to ensure you walk away not just with a portfolio, but with the grit to build something of your own. All classes are conducted at my studio in Indiranagar, and we offer flexible batch timings to fit your schedule.
