Here is one of my students, Uppili, practicing 'Etthanai Kettalum', a beautiful composition in Raga Bhairavi. Our classes focus on building a strong foundation in Indian Carnatic music, whether you are a beginner or have prior experience. This is what a typical learning session looks like, focusing on the nuances of the kriti.
A special performance for Janmashtami, where I express the story of 'Kasthuri Tilakam' through Abhinaya, with vocals by my mother, Rama Srishailan. Music and dance are deeply connected in my family, a tradition I am honored to pass on through my teaching.
Behind the scenes at stage rehearsals for our annual showcase. I believe performance is a key part of learning, helping students build confidence and share their art. Here, my students are preparing for their Carnatic vocal and classical dance pieces at Purandara Bhavana.
About Featured
We keep our batches small, with only 5 to 8 students, so you get actual attention on your pitch and shruti. You will sit in our traditional Baithak style, which creates an intimate environment perfect for listening and learning.
Our approach to Carnatic music is systematic and deeply rooted in tradition. Whether you are a total beginner or looking to refine your skills, we guide you through a structured curriculum that starts with the fundamentals.
We begin with Shruthi and Laya training, moving through Sarali Varisai, Alankarams, and Varnams as you build your foundation. Once you are comfortable with these basics, we expand your repertoire to include Shlokas, Bhajans, Devaranamas, and eventually, complex Kritis.
Our classes are not just about theory; they are about understanding the soul of Carnatic music. We explain the nuances of Raga and Tala so you do not just memorize notes, but understand the structure behind them. For advanced students, we offer mentorship in Manodharma improvisation and concert preparation, helping you build the confidence for stage performances like our annual showcase, 'Chalana'.
We conduct these sessions in a traditional, seated Baithak style at our Bangalore studio. This helps you focus entirely on the music and encourages an interactive learning experience with your peers.
