Carnatic Music Classes and Kids' Workshops in Bengaluru
From the structured path of Carnatic vocals to the creative energy of kids' art camps, here is a glimpse into how I teach and balance the rhythm of music.
Leading a circle time session at the Kalabhiruchi Shibira summer camp. My goal is to create an energetic and interactive space where kids can learn music fundamentals and overcome any shyness together.
Here's a glimpse into a one-on-one Carnatic vocal session, where we're exploring different ragas and swara patterns. These focused classes are perfect for students who want to build a strong foundation in classical music.
I wanted to share my story about Hanumanthanagar Bimba, the place that first discovered my potential and encouraged my parents to get me formal training. It's the reason I believe so strongly in giving back and helping kids find their own love for the arts.
Look at these curious faces. This is the best part of teaching at the Kalabhiruchi Shibira. Seeing children completely absorbed in the music and activities makes everything worthwhile.
A fun Konnakol piece I created with a fellow artist. This is an example of how we can explore the creative and rhythmic side of Carnatic music in my workshops.
About Featured
Whether you join my small-batch monthly classes or opt for 1-on-1 advanced mentorship, the focus stays on the basics—rhythm, raga, and lyrical meaning. I keep the environment relaxed, using traditional floor seating and an informal studio setup, because I believe music should be learned in a space that feels like home, not a rigid classroom.
My Approach to Teaching
I treat music as a way to connect. Whether it is a classical Purandara Dasa composition or teaching kids to find their stage confidence, my goal is to pass on the knowledge I received from my gurus.
For Kids: Kalabhiruchi Shibira My sessions for children at the Kalabhiruchi summer camp are not just about singing. We mix theatre, dance, and art. It is interactive, circle-time learning designed to help kids overcome stage fright. We focus on pronunciation, basic rhythm cycles, and bhajans, all in a community hall setting that feels safe and encouraging.
For Carnatic Vocal Students If you want to dive deeper, my Carnatic vocal classes (small groups of 4 to 8 students) cover the standard syllabus. We progress from Sarale Varase to Varnams and Keerthanas. I teach Raga grammar and help you align your rhythm with hand gestures for Talam. We use Sruthi box apps to keep our pitch in check.
Advanced Mentorship & Konnakol For professionals, I offer 1-on-1 sessions. We focus on:
- Konnakol: Vocal percussion, Jathi calculations, and Gati bheda.
- Manodharma: Improvisation techniques for Raga Alapana and Kalpanaswara.
- Performance: Getting you stage-ready for dance accompaniment or concerts.
My studio setup is informal and welcoming. I believe that if you are comfortable, you learn better. I do not worry about the tough bits, we celebrate the small wins together. If you are looking for a place in Bengaluru to start your musical journey or refine your skills, let us talk about your goals.
