Behind the Scenes: My Editorial & Shoot Process

On-set life is rarely just 'set it and forget it.' Between the wind machines and studio lights, I’m usually glued to the monitor, checking for stray hairs or volume drops in real-time. Whether it’s a quick texture change for a brand campaign or adjusting a look between takes, I’m there to make sure the hair holds up, no matter how many times you change the pose.

Shooting for magazines, brand campaigns, or even a pre-wedding reel is a different ball game compared to event styling. In an event, the hair needs to stay put for hours. On a set, it needs to move, catch the light, and look perfect from every angle.

Why On-Set Styling is Different

When I work on commercial or editorial shifts, I’m not just a hairstylist; I’m part of the production team. Here is how I approach it:

• Monitor Vigilance: I stand by the photographer or director to fix hair imperfections before they become a problem in post-production.
• Texture Management: Lighting can be harsh. I use specific anti-humidity sprays and shine control products so your hair doesn't look oily or frizzy under high-wattage studio lights.
• Rapid Changeovers: For portfolio sessions, we often have limited time to switch from a 'glam pony' to 'beachy waves.' I use techniques that allow for fast restyling without needing to wash and blow-dry everything from scratch.

My Working Style

I’ve had the chance to work with amazing artists like Raveena Tandon and Ridhima Pandit, and the one thing I’ve learned is that every face and outfit demands a different hair silhouette. If it’s a high-fashion shoot, we might go for a slick-back look. If it’s something softer, we keep the texture loose and natural.
