From Blueprint to Reality: Our Design Journey
Every great space begins long before the final finishes are applied. Here is a glimpse into the raw, foundational moments across our active sites where initial concepts are actively transforming into tangible, lived-in experiences.
A glimpse of a project in the works. This image from the site of The Corridors in Gurugram shows the initial framework going up, the first step in bringing our vision for a lobby of sculpted elegance and refined materiality to life.
This is the blank canvas stage of a large residential space. The drywall is up and the floor is marked for tiling, showing the clean slate from which we begin to layer in the details, textures, and lighting that will define the final experience.
Here, skilled artisans are meticulously placing pieces of a marble inlay pattern on a wall. This behind-the-scenes shot captures the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into executing our complex and bespoke design elements on site.
Work in progress at one of our sites, where the framework for a large shelving unit is being installed and the first marble slab is laid. This image shows the raw, foundational stage where the structural elements of our design begin to take physical form.
Another view from The Corridors site in Gurugram, showing the exposed ceiling pipes and blockwork. This raw, industrial stage is a critical part of the construction process before the finishing layers are applied to create a seamless and luxurious flow.
A work in progress shot from one of our many projects across India. Even in this unfinished state, with primed walls and a ladder in the corner, the spatial proportions and potential of the room are beginning to emerge.
About From Blueprint to Reality
Before the final reveal, there is the methodical stage of site preparation where technical precision meets artistic intent. Whether we are installing acoustic baffles in an educational space or laying Italian marble in a community hub, these raw, unpolished moments allow us to verify structural integrity and spatial flow. It is here, amidst the dust and framing, that the true character of a space begins to take form.
The Anatomy of Our Projects
Design is rarely a straight line from a 2D sketch to a 3D reality. It is a negotiation between the site’s existing context and the vision we create together. When you look at these in-progress images, you are seeing the 'hidden' layer of architecture that dictates how a space will function for years to come.
Technical Foundation
- Structural Planning: We prioritize long-term wellbeing by ensuring that the skeleton of the project—be it the HVAC ducting, the acoustic treatments, or the electrical grids—is executed with precision.
- Materiality in Motion: From setting the foundation for Italian marble flooring in our hospitality projects to ensuring the structural support for parametric CNC-routed walls, our focus during construction is on durability and finish.
- Adaptive Reuse: In many of our active sites, we are not building from scratch but rather reimagining what is already there. This requires a delicate touch to retain the building's soul while introducing modern functionality like energy-efficient lighting and sustainable finishes.
Why the Process Matters
For us, the site is where the philosophy of 'listening' becomes physical. We believe that by documenting the journey—the framing, the wiring, the first layer of stone—we provide our clients with total transparency. It is a reminder that a well-designed space is not just about the final aesthetic; it is about the structural and thoughtful decisions made long before the doors open.
Studio IAAD
We are a studio that believes design is a collaborative story, not just a set of drawings. We listen, debate, and experiment to ensure every space feels like a natural extension of those who inhabit it, moving beyond mere aesthetics to create environments that truly breathe.
