Yoga Teacher Workshops: The Art of Adjustment
Adjustments are a conversation, not a correction. We help you move from simply guiding poses to facilitating a deeper, safer experience for your students.
A physical correction is an intimate dialogue. In our teacher workshops, we teach that an adjustment is not about force, but about inviting the body to move with the breath, creating a memorable experience of alignment for the student.
Physical corrections in Parsva Dhanurasana are about deepening awareness. We guide teachers to help their students feel the posture from within, creating a reference point they can return to in their independent practice.
Inversions require a high degree of trust and skill. Our workshops for teachers provide detailed guidance on how to support students in advanced poses, ensuring safety while exploring new physical possibilities.
Hands-on corrections are like offering a hand to a child learning to walk. We teach that adjustments are a last resort, used gently to help a student find their own stability and independence in a pose like Ustrasana (Camel Pose).
Our online classes are designed to help students understand how to engage the body safely. This image from a workshop shows a hands-on adjustment for Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose), a core part of our teacher training curriculum.
This video demonstrates how to effectively assist a student in Parvakonasana (Side Angle Pose). The goal is to help them understand the alignment for the future, not just to push them deeper into the asana today.
Our advanced Saturday classes are perfect for teachers who want to learn how to support students in more difficult asanas. This clip shows a mix of demonstration, hands-on adjustment, and practice.
About this collection
Physical adjustments are our last resort, not our first. In our teacher labs, we prioritize verbal cues and biomechanical understanding over forced manual assistance. You will learn to use touch only when it provides necessary clarity, ensuring your students find their own stability rather than relying on your physical support.
Whether you are refining your own practice or guiding others, understanding the anatomy of an adjustment is essential. Our workshops move away from continuous flow and into 'lab' style learning. We break down the biomechanics of spinal movements, ensuring that when you do touch a student, it is precise, purposeful, and safe.
We focus on the common stumbling blocks in teaching, such as the alignment of Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog) or the subtle rotation required in hip-opening sequences. By practicing on peers at our Garden of Samskaras studio in Whitefield, you learn to interpret different body types and develop a sensitive touch that respects the student's boundaries and personal limitations. Our goal is to equip you with the skills to identify when a student is stuck and how to guide them back to alignment using nothing more than your voice, your presence, and gentle, informed touch.
