Yoga for Posture and Flexibility
Sitting at a desk all day? Let's undo the hunch. My sessions focus on alignment to open up your chest, shoulders, and hips so you move better, naturally.
A close-up of the Ustrasana (Camel Pose), a powerful heart-opening backbend. This pose is excellent for improving spinal flexibility and strengthening the back muscles, which is key for correcting posture after long hours of sitting.
Another look at the Camel Pose, focusing on the deep stretch it provides for the chest, abdomen, and throat. Consistent practice of this asana can help relieve fatigue and anxiety while improving overall posture and body awareness.
About Yoga for Posture & Flexibility
I use a lot of Iyengar-inspired techniques, which means we don't just hold poses. We use props like straps and blocks to get the alignment right, especially if your shoulders or lower back feel tight from hours of sitting. It is not about how deep you go into a pose, but how correctly you align your body to open up those stiff areas.
Most of us spend the day hunched over laptops or phones, and that 'tech-neck' or tight lower back becomes the new normal. My sessions are not about flashy acrobatics. They are about fixing that foundation.
The Iyengar-Inspired Approach
I lean heavily on Iyengar-style alignment because it works. It teaches you where your weight should be and how to properly engage your muscles. We focus on:
- Shoulder Opening: Counteracting the daily slouch.
- Hip Mobility: Releasing tension built up from long periods of sitting.
- Spinal Alignment: Strengthening the back muscles that support your posture.
Using Props for Progress
If you cannot touch your toes or feel like your hamstrings are made of iron, that is exactly why we use blocks and straps. They act as extensions of your arms, allowing you to hold postures correctly without straining. You get the benefits of the stretch without risking injury, which is key for long-term consistency.
Where We Train
Whether you want to join a small group batch at studios like Figurine Fitness in Indiranagar or MK Fitness in Whitefield, or prefer a 1-on-1 session in your own living room, the goal remains the same: better movement. If you are ready to stop feeling stiff and start enjoying how your body moves, let’s get started. We break down the basics until they become second nature.
