About Kathak Performances
I see Kathak as a living, breathing art that’s shaped by years of sadhana and the magic that happens between me, my musicians, and the audience. Every show is a bit unpredictable, thanks to the sawal-jawab (question-answer) between my footwork and the tabla, or the way the sitar nudges my expressions. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned, but honestly, that’s where the real fun is.
What I Offer
- Solo, Duet, and Group Shows: From intimate solo acts where I dive deep into Kathak storytelling performance, to big group productions with my troupe for that grand stage vibe. I also love teaming up with artists from other styles, like our Kathak and Bharatanatyam duet, which brings a whole new energy.
- For All Kinds of Events: I’ve performed at corporate gigs (like SBI and HP), cultural festivals, and even private sangeets. Each space brings its own mood, and I try to match that, whether it’s a Ganesh Vandana for a formal event or something more experimental.
- Live Orchestra: I almost always dance with a live orchestra Kathak show - tabla, sitar, vocals, bansuri, harmonium. The energy is just different, and sometimes, we improvise on the spot.
My Style
- Rooted in tradition but always curious. I mix classical pieces, Sufi fusion Kathak dance, and even experiment with new ideas. Sometimes it’s a tribute, sometimes it’s just something quirky that caught my imagination.
- I believe Kathak is for everyone, and every performance is a chance to connect, not just perform.

My Story
Namaskar! I’m Pooja Pant, Kathak dancer and actor, Mumbai based. My Guru, Smt Rajashree Shirke, shaped my dance life – those youth festival days still ring in my head. Now, I get to teach my students choreos I learnt 20 years ago, feels surreal! Lost my brother, Abhijeet, so started Abhiratna Awards for young artists, that’s my way of remembering him. I still goof up on vocals, but learning never stops, hai na? Sometimes I just burst out singing during rehearsals!
My Work
Kathak classes & certified courses - Teaching all levels at my Mumbai branches and online. Limited seats, we offer certified Kathak courses too.
Workshops for dancers - I run workshops on Kathak technique - chakkars, footwork. People join from all over, even at odd hours!
Performances & choreography - We do solo, group, and private event shows. Love creating new pieces - inspiration strikes anywhere, anytime.
