Bespoke Kathak & Sufi Choreography
Core Training
- Composition: Original choreography based on Kathak or Sufi-Kathak styles, set to complex Taals or film fusion tracks.
- Studio Sessions: 4 to 6 hours of in-person training split over 3-4 sessions at Juhu or Vile Parle studios.
- Instruction: Taught directly by Pooja Pant or a Senior Disciple.
- Practice Material: Full-length recorded practice video provided for home rehearsals.
Creative Support
- Audio Prep: Professional music editing and splicing to fit time limits.
- Expression Coaching: Specialized training in Bhaav (facial expressions) and Mudras (hand gestures).
- Styling: Consultation on costumes, fabrics, and jewelry to suit the choreography.
On-Set Choreography & Direction
Production Execution
- Camera Blocking: Choreography designed specifically for camera frames, angles, close-ups, and wide shots.
- Actor Coaching: Crash-course training for actors to ensure authentic classical posture and mudras.
- Technical Alignment: Coordination with the DOP to synchronize movement with camera equipment (cranes/trolleys).
Pre-Production & Crew
- Concept Meeting: Pre-shoot session with the director to align on visual tone.
- Support Crew: Includes 1-2 assistant choreographers on set to manage rehearsals.
- Note: Rate covers service fee only; background dancers charged separately.
Full-Scale Live Musical Production
The Ensemble
- Lead Performance: Key segments performed by Guru Pooja Pant.
- Dance Troupe: 6 to 8 senior repertory dancers from the company.
- Live Orchestra: 4-5 professional musicians including Tabla, Pakhawaj, Sitar/Sarangi, Vocals, and Harmonium.
Production Specs
- Theme Curation: Custom design based on specific themes (e.g., Sufi, Mythological, Elements).
- Visuals: Premium stage costumes (Silks/Banarasis), traditional jewelry, and stage makeup for the troupe.
- Technical Direction: Dedicated lighting director for visual programming and a mandatory 2-hour sound check for acoustic balance.
About Choreography Services
Dance as Conversation
For me, choreography is not just about steps - it's a sawal-jawab (question-answer) between music, story, and the dancer. Every piece is a journey, sometimes messy, always honest. I build worlds on stage, starting from a single spark, and let the dance tell its own story.
What I Create
- Full-scale productions, from Ramayan-inspired tales to pandemic hope (
Nishant), and even Disney's "The Lion King" in Kathak style. - Literary adaptations like
Saptarang, where Marathi writers' words become movement. - Technical Kathak compositions in different
taals(rhythmic cycles), blending tradition with my own twist. - Kathak fusion choreography, mixing Sufi poetry (
Kalaam), Carnatic music, and classic film songs.
Custom Choreography for Events
My team and I choreograph for corporate events, cultural festivals, and special occasions. We listen, adapt, and shape performances to fit your vibe. No cookie-cutter routines - every show is unique.
How We Work
- It starts with an idea, then music design with musicians on Tabla, Sitar, Sarangi, etc.
- Hours of
riyaaz(practice) in the studio, lots of trial and error, and a team effort. - Collaborative dance production is what I value most - everyone brings something to the table.

My Story
Namaskar! I’m Pooja Pant, Kathak dancer and actor, Mumbai based. My Guru, Smt Rajashree Shirke, shaped my dance life – those youth festival days still ring in my head. Now, I get to teach my students choreos I learnt 20 years ago, feels surreal! Lost my brother, Abhijeet, so started Abhiratna Awards for young artists, that’s my way of remembering him. I still goof up on vocals, but learning never stops, hai na? Sometimes I just burst out singing during rehearsals!
My Work
Kathak classes & certified courses - Teaching all levels at my Mumbai branches and online. Limited seats, we offer certified Kathak courses too.
Workshops for dancers - I run workshops on Kathak technique - chakkars, footwork. People join from all over, even at odd hours!
Performances & choreography - We do solo, group, and private event shows. Love creating new pieces - inspiration strikes anywhere, anytime.
