I adapt the language of Kathak for everything from grand corporate stages to intimate camera frames. Whether it is a web series narrative or a festival performance, I work with directors and teams to ensure the movement tells the story.

I was happy to serve as the choreographer for the Amazon Prime web series 'Dil Dosti Dilemma'. It's always a pleasure to bring the grace of classical movement to a modern story.

A throwback to performing at the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Awards in London with Salim and Sulaiman Merchant for the musical 'Beyond Bollywood'. Choreographing for international stages is an incredible experience.

Rehearsing a 'Ganesh Vandana' for a Hindustan Petroleum event. We often begin our performances with a traditional invocation, customized to suit the occasion.

A tribute to the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, where I choreographed and performed 'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya'. Reimagining iconic film songs through the lens of Kathak is a creative joy.

About Choreography for Events & Screen

Working on screen versus a stage involves two different languages. On stage, I project for the back row, but for film sets like 'Dil Dosti Dilemma' or 'Pune Highway', I coach actors to internalize the movement for the lens. If you are planning an event or a shoot, let us talk about your vision first, as the music editing and camera blocking take time to sync.

When I choreograph for events or screen, I do not just teach steps. It is a 'sawal-jawab' (question-answer) between the narrative and the movement. My process begins long before the dancers hit the floor.

For corporate and stage events, we start by selecting music that fits the theme, whether it is a traditional 'Ganesh Vandana' for a corporate gathering or a high-energy fusion piece for a TEDx talk. I coordinate with live musicians to ensure the composition has the right 'taal' (rhythmic cycle) to hold the audience's attention.

For film and web series, the approach shifts entirely. I focus on camera blocking, angles, and ensuring the performer looks natural rather than overly technical. During my time on sets for shows like 'Dil Dosti Dilemma' or films like 'Pune Highway', my role often involves acting coaching as well, ensuring that the dancer or actor connects with the camera lens.

I bring the precision of Kathak into a format that is accessible to non-dancers and professional performers alike. You get a team that understands technical rhythm, costume styling, and the nuances of 'Abhinaya' (facial expression). We handle the music editing, stage light coordination, and ensure that the final piece looks like it was always meant to be part of your story.

I have spent my life practicing Kathak, but my greatest joy is seeing how this classical form can talk to other styles and modern stories. I am a constant student of my craft, always learning from the musicians and actors I work with. My school and my dance company are my way of keeping this conversation alive.
