A look at the diverse, soulful artwork created by our community in our Jayanagar studio. From traditional folk motifs to modern watercolor expressions, see what our artists are working on.

A close-up of a vibrant painting, showcasing the intricate details and rich colors that are a hallmark of Indian folk art. Every element tells a part of a larger story.

"Art must be an integral part of human life." This beautiful Pichwai-style painting of a cow honors the nurturing forces in our culture, from Mother Earth to the animals that sustain us.

A throwback to our miniature folk art classes in 2017. This tiny elephant was painted on an Areca plate, proving that art can be created on any canvas, big or small.

A stunning watercolor painting of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha by a featured artist. This piece beautifully blends traditional iconography with a soft, modern watercolor technique.

About A Gallery of Inspiration

When you see these pieces, you’re looking at the result of slow, meditative practice. Whether it’s a detailed Kalamkari panel or a small Madhubani motif, our artists focus on understanding the story behind every stroke before they even pick up a brush. It is about building a real connection with the art form rather than just filling a canvas.

At Pencil & Chai, we treat every session like a Gurukul experience. If you have been searching for art classes in Jayanagar or want to learn authentic Indian folk art, you are in the right place. Our programs range from quick weekend immersions to deep-dive certification courses.

In our weekend Gond or Madhubani workshops, we provide all materials so you can just show up, grab a cup of chai, and paint. For those looking for long-term growth, our foundation courses cover history, mythology, and techniques like natural dye simulation. You will learn from senior artists who give one-on-one reviews of your assignments. We aren’t a typical quick-fix studio; we want you to leave with the skills to create independently. Whether you are a total beginner or an artist looking to refine your technique, our studio offers a quiet space to explore. From traditional Kalamkari pens to modern watercolor brushes, our curriculum emphasizes technical discipline balanced with the joy of expression.

We are the team behind Pencil & Chai. We started in 2011 with a simple setup: open sky, sketchbooks, and cups of chai. We have kept that spirit alive in our Jayanagar studio where we focus on teaching you the fundamentals of Indian folk art and painting, one brushstroke at a time.
