About this collection
Lippan art is incredibly therapeutic, using clay and mirrors to build texture on the surface. You do not need to be an expert to start; I walk you through the mud-work and mirror placement step by step so you leave with a finished piece you are proud to display in your own home.
Folk art is more than just a technique; it is a way to slow down and connect with heritage. In my studio, we explore two distinct styles that bring warmth to any living space.
Pichwai Painting Originating from Nathdwara, this 400-year-old art form is all about grace and devotion. We focus on the classic motifs of cows and lotuses. I teach you how to handle the brush to capture those delicate lines, even if you have never painted before. It is a slow, soulful process that results in beautiful, serene decor for your walls.
Lippan Art This is a 700-year-old tribal craft from Kutch, Gujarat. It is essentially mud and mirror work, but we use modern materials to make it durable and easy for home decor. You will learn to mix your own texture, create symmetric mandala patterns, and place mirrors to catch the light. It is a fantastic sensory experience that feels quite different from standard canvas painting.
Why these workshops? I keep batch sizes small, usually 5 to 10 people, to ensure everyone gets individual attention. You do not need to bring a thing; all supplies, from the MDF bases to the paints and mirrors, are provided at the studio in Jayanagar. Come as you are, and leave with a handmade piece of art that tells a story.
