Studio Life and Hand-Painted Studies

Step into my Old Delhi workshop. Here, I create hand-painted studies and still-life art, keeping the craft alive one brushstroke at a time.

A set of four monochrome studies of vegetables and fruits: an eggplant, spinach, lotus root, and pomegranate. This shows my skill in still life and botanical illustration.

A moment in my studio, enjoying a cup of chai while surrounded by works in progress. This is where the magic happens.

Me in my workshop, with a large series of botanical illustrations laid out on the table. This was part of a large commission for a client.

A colorful still life painting of chilies, cherries, and oranges, surrounded by my bottles of paint. This shows the vibrant palette I work with.

The finished still life painting of fruits and vegetables, a bright and cheerful piece perfect for a kitchen or restaurant.

About this collection

Every piece of art you see here started exactly the same way: with a simple sketch in my Bazar Matia Mahal studio. I do not use digital tools or computers. When you hire me, you are getting the same traditional process you see in these images, from the preliminary charcoal lines to the final application of oil-based paints.

My studio is where I experiment and refine my technique. Whether it is a small botanical study, a still life of fruits, or a complex lettering project, my process remains rooted in the old ways of Indian sign-painting and commercial art. I believe that true art requires the hand of the artist to be present in every single curve and shade.

My Process

When you commission a piece, I treat it with the same care as my own studio experiments. I begin with a direct sketch on the surface, ensuring the scale and flow are perfect before a single drop of paint touches the wall. I primarily use oil-based synthetic enamels because they provide a rich, glossy finish that survives the weather and stays vibrant for years.

Beyond the Canvas

My son, Rahel, and I work together to keep these traditional skills alive. We do not just paint; we prepare surfaces, mix our own pigments, and ensure that every letter or portrait is executed with precision. If you are looking for art that has a human touch—something that feels alive and carries the energy of the hand that painted it—you have come to the right place. From custom signage in Urdu, Hindi, or English to detailed murals, I am here to create something real for your home or business.
