My Creative Space & Process: Behind the Scenes
Welcome to my studio. It is the favorite room in my home, where I find peace and solace every day. Come take a peek at the creative process behind my paintings.
Posting a view of one corner of my studio. This is the favorite room in my home where I find solace and peace every day.
I've been working on this still life composition of a skull for quite some time. The initial oil layers are taking a while to dry, but I'm enjoying the process. This is a work in progress on canvas.
I did this floral painting by following a live demo by artist Paul Foxton. I learned so much about color and chroma. I kept the painting a bit according to my own style. This is an oil on linen practice work.
Another small study in oil on linen. I love doing these little paintings of flowers to better understand value and chroma.
This is a new work in progress, titled 'Roses at the Academy'. I had some leftover paint on my palette and decided to start a new painting inspired by the beautiful roses I saw at the Florence Academy.
The initial block-in for my 'Sacred Moments' still life. This is the first step in an oil painting, where I establish the basic shapes and shadows.
The still life painting further along, with more color and detail added to the blue pot and red flower.
Sketching my palette. This small Art Tool Kit palette is an essential part of my sketching gear. It's compact, light, and holds all the colors I need to sketch on the go.
A look at my beautiful Daniel Smith watercolor paints. Having quality materials is so important for an artist.
Artists are so fond of buying art materials, no matter how much we already have. These are some of my new Camel artist mop brushes.
About My Creative Space & Process
Working on a painting is rarely a tidy process. Whether I am layering oils for a still life or sketching with watercolors, I believe in using quality materials like Daniel Smith pigments and Gamblin oils to ensure every piece lasts. If you see a style here that speaks to you, we can start a conversation about creating a custom artwork specifically for your space.
Art is about finding happiness in the little things. For me, that happens right here in my studio. It is a bit messy, filled with tubes of paint, half-finished sketches, and the smell of linseed oil, but it is my happy place.
My process changes depending on the medium. When I am working with oils, I often create still life studies to practice light, shadow, and chroma. You might see me painting flowers or simple objects, focusing on the brushwork and the way color sits on the linen. It is a slow, meditative process.
When I shift to watercolors, things get a bit faster. I use professional-grade paints on cotton paper, capturing quick moments or urban scenes. This helps me stay loose and spontaneous.
I am a strong believer in using archival materials. I rely on Gamblin oils, Daniel Smith watercolors, and acid-free paper because I want the art you take home to stay beautiful for years. If you are looking for an original painting, I would love to collaborate. We can discuss your ideas, whether you want an intimate oil portrait or a vibrant watercolor cityscape. Reach out, and let’s make something beautiful together ❤️.
