About The Student Gallery
These works go beyond basic class exercises. Whether it is a student’s first watercolour bird study or a semi-abstract Krishna canvas, my focus is always on individual expression. You will see pieces here that were developed for our 'Chitrakar' competition, where we push students to move past basic techniques and build portfolios that are truly exhibition-ready.
In my studio, I tell every student: don't just copy, create. Our curriculum flows from the basics—pencil shading, understanding anatomy, and color blending—all the way to advanced oil painting and semi-realistic portraiture.
When a student walks in, they might be nervous about holding a brush. Within a few months, they are mixing their own palettes and presenting work in our exhibitions. The gallery you see here is a mix of that progression. We have students as young as five learning to control watercolors, and adults in our Malleshwaram studio diving deep into oil-on-canvas techniques.
We focus heavily on the process. Before a student starts a large-scale painting of Lord Sri Rama or a detailed portrait, we work on sketches and color studies. This ensures that when they eventually present their work, they understand the composition and the emotion behind it. It is not about perfect lines. It is about capturing a feeling—like the calm in a Buddha painting or the movement in a horse portrait.
