Master Kabaddi Defensive Techniques
A strong defense is the backbone of any winning team. Master the Ankle Hold, Thigh Hold, and coordinated Chain Tackles through intensive, drill-based training.
A detailed breakdown of the Single Thigh Hold. I am explaining the importance of using shoulder force and lifting the raider to ensure the tackle is successful.
The Ankle Hold is a fundamental defensive skill. This video shows the correct technique to get low and execute a powerful hold.
This is part one of our Cover Chain Tackle drill. I am demonstrating how to form a chain and move as a single unit to block the raider.
A perfect example of teamwork in defense. This clip shows a combination of a single tackle followed by a chain tackle to stop the raider.
Players practicing the Cover Chain Tackle. Coordination and timing are everything, and we drill this relentlessly.
We use various tools to simulate match situations. Here, players are using tires and shields to practice their defensive blocking and tackling skills.
About Building the Wall: Defensive Drills
When we practice the Cover Chain Tackle, I don't just look for speed. I watch for the coordination that stops a raider cold. If you aren't training to move as a unit, you aren't defending. I use video analysis during our sessions to show you exactly where your grip fails and how to lock it down, whether you are on the mat or the mud track.
At NEA Kabaddi Academy, we treat defense as a game of anticipation. The difference between a successful tackle and a point conceded often comes down to millimetres and split-second decisions. Most players focus heavily on raiding, but matches are won by those who can control the opponent's movement.
Our Defensive Methodology
We focus on fundamental control. Whether it is an Ankle Hold or a Thigh Hold, we drill the 'down and hold' technique until it becomes muscle memory. For team coordination, our Cover Chain Tackle drills train you to move as a single unit, ensuring that if one defender slips, the chain holds.
Dual-Surface Training
We train on PKL-standard interlocking mats and traditional mud tracks. This dual-surface training helps you develop grip strength and footwork that holds up under any condition. We record practice sessions for video analysis, helping you correct your posture and use of shoulder force.
Why Practice Defense?
- Ankle Hold: Mastering the low-profile grab.
- Thigh Hold: Learning to use leg power and shoulder force.
- Chain Tackles: Developing team synergy and defensive timing.
Our training isn't for those looking for a quick fix. We put in the hard work every day because that is the only way to perform at District, State, and National levels.
