About Authentic Manipuri Snacks & Sides
My Singju isn't a pre-made salad sitting in a fridge. I mix the lotus stem, chickpeas, and fresh herbs by hand only when you order, ensuring that signature crunch stays perfect from my kitchen to your bowl. It is the ultimate evening snack—order it with a cup of red tea for the full experience.
In Manipur, a meal without the right sides is incomplete. Snacks are more than just a quick bite; they are a daily ritual and a way to balance the heavier, curry-based meals.
My snack menu brings these street-side and home-kitchen classics to Delhi:
The Staples
- Singju: This is my signature. It is a traditional herbal salad, typically featuring shredded lotus stem, chickpeas, and seasonal greens like Yongchak (stink bean) when in season. It is crunchy, spicy, and tangy.
- Eromba: If you want true comfort, this is it. It is a mash of boiled vegetables, chili, and fermented fish, giving it a deep, pungent, and savory profile that hits the spot every time.
- Bora: These are my crispy fritters, made with fresh vegetables and gram flour. They are the perfect companion for an evening tea (Cha-ngang).
- Kelichana: A classic, simple, and satisfying chickpea-based snack.
Why Freshness Matters
I don’t believe in mass-producing these. Because I use fresh vegetables and specific seasonal ingredients, these sides have a very specific shelf life. When you order, I ensure the heat-sealed packs maintain the texture of the vegetables. You will notice the difference in the freshness of the greens and the intensity of the fermented fish compared to standard packaged options.
Whether you are planning a small evening gathering at home or just need a savory pick-me-up during your workday, these snacks bring a piece of Manipur to your table.
