More Than Asanas: Yoga, Meditation, and Community
Yoga is more than just poses. Join me for mindful satsangs, guided full moon meditations, and real conversations about finding your daily balance.
To truly flow in yoga, you have to enjoy the "non-flowy" parts of the practice, like building strong foundations. This sunset session by the beach was a beautiful reminder that consistency in the basics is what allows for grace and ease in movement.
Yoga isn't just about asanas. It's also about finding bliss in community. This is what we do in our satsangs, we sing, we connect, and we share positive energy. If you are in the Whitefield area, you are welcome to join us.
The moon has a powerful impact on our minds and bodies. To help harness this energy, I host guided full moon meditations on Zoom. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with yourself on a deeper level.
Can any other meditators relate? This is a playful take on what it feels like when you're trying to meditate, but your thoughts have other plans. It's a good reminder not to take our practice too seriously.
Here are a few facts about yoga while we flow through some asanas. Yoga is a union of mind, body, and soul, and the physical postures are just one part of this ancient practice. Can you name the asanas we are doing?
I absolutely loved this drone shoot we did in Bengaluru, the garden city of India. Practicing by the water with this expansive view was such a special experience. It shows how beautiful yoga in nature can be.
I admit, we didn't actually have this conversation at a wedding, but I'm learning about social media hooks. We do have these wacky ideas from time to time, like challenging each other to a Bhujapidasana hold.
We tried out this fun hip mobility challenge. It looks simple, but it really tests your balance and control. It's always fun to try these challenges together and have a laugh.
Of course, we had to attempt the car handstand challenge. After a few takes and accidentally honking the horn, we finally got it. It’s all about having fun and not being afraid to try something new.
Here is another fun mobility challenge we tried. It took multiple takes, but we finally got it. These little challenges are a great way to test our limits and just be playful.
About More Than Asanas: The Full Yoga Experience
If you are curious about what happens when you stop trying to 'perfect' a pose, you are in the right place. My sessions often shift from rigorous vinyasa flows to grounding meditation or open group discussions, because understanding the philosophy behind your practice is what actually helps you sustain it.
Beyond the Physical
While the physical practice of asanas helps keep the body healthy, I believe yoga is incomplete without exploring the mind and spirit. In this cluster, you will find information about our community-focused events, such as:
- Satsangs: Regular gatherings, particularly in the Whitefield area, where we connect, share stories, and find bliss beyond the mat.
- Full Moon Meditations: We utilize the lunar cycle as a guide to delve deeper into our breathing and meditative states. These sessions, usually hosted on Zoom, are perfect if you are looking to harmonize your internal state with external rhythms.
- Philosophy and Logic: As a programmer, I love breaking down the 'why' behind the 'how'. Whether we are discussing the ancient texts or the mechanics of a breath pattern, we keep it grounded and relevant to your daily life.
Why Practice with Us?
My approach is built on community and consistent, playful effort. We do not just do yoga; we talk about it. If you have been struggling with 'tech-neck' from long hours at your desk or you just want a space where falling over while trying a handstand is met with laughter rather than judgment, you will fit right in.
We keep our group sizes moderate to ensure that whether you are joining from your living room via Zoom or attending a session in-person at a Bengaluru studio, you get the attention you need to stay safe and aligned. This is a space to breathe, connect, and just be.
