About Hand-Building & Clay Sculpting
Hand-building is all about freedom, not perfection. You do not need a wheel to make something stunning, just your hands and a bit of focus. Whether you are pinching a mug or slab-building a lantern, I will guide you through the process step-by-step, and we will fire your finished piece in the kiln so it lasts.
When I say hand-building is for everyone, I really mean it. Unlike the potter's wheel which takes time to master, hand-building lets you create functional art on your very first day. We use simple techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab-building to make things that look and feel like 'you.'
Why people love this session:
- Zero pressure: This is the perfect space to switch off. You don't need prior experience, just a willingness to get a little messy.
- Creative control: From coffee mugs with personality to intricate lamps and sculptures, you decide what you want to make. I am there to show you how to structure it.
- Therapeutic vibes: My studio in Whitefield is rooftop and green. It is honestly the best place to slow down, breathe, and just let the clay do its work.
The process:
- You make it: We start with clay prep. I will help you design your piece so it survives the firing process.
- I finish it: After your session, I take over the technical stuff. I bisque-fire your pieces to harden them and glaze them in my signature studio palette.
- You take it home: After a few weeks, your creation is ready for pickup. Seeing a piece you made with your own hands come out of the kiln is a feeling that is hard to describe.
Come by for a session if you want to turn a quiet weekend into a creative one. 🌿
