Discover the joy of clay without the wheel. Whether you want to sculpt a quirky mug or a beautiful home decor piece, I’ll help you shape your imagination into reality. 🫶🏻

A student in a corporate workshop carefully carving intricate patterns into a clay slab. Hand-building allows for so much creativity and detail.

A hand-built mug in its beginning stages. Even simple forms can be personalized with unique textures and designs.

I love the excitement of working on odd shapes in hand-building. This wavy, carved lamp was a fun project that plays with light and shadow.

A student adding creative cutouts to a hand-built lantern. Corporate workshops are always filled with laughter and amazing ideas.

You can make your own quirky coffee mug in my weekend hand-building workshop. It's a fun way to enjoy the art of pottery.

A glimpse into the variety of work at the studio, from hand-sculpted figures to wheel-thrown pots and hand-built pieces.

This dancing figure sculpture was a joy to make. The process of sculpting is so therapeutic and motivates me to create more.

A student working on a hand-built sculpture. The process is very different from the wheel and allows for a different kind of creative expression.

A look at a hand-building workshop where participants created beautiful wall art and decorative plates. It's amazing to see their ideas take shape.

A goblet-style piece I created. Exploring different forms, whether on the wheel or by hand, is always an exciting challenge.

About Hand-Building & Clay Sculpting

Hand-building is all about freedom, not perfection. You do not need a wheel to make something stunning, just your hands and a bit of focus. Whether you are pinching a mug or slab-building a lantern, I will guide you through the process step-by-step, and we will fire your finished piece in the kiln so it lasts.

When I say hand-building is for everyone, I really mean it. Unlike the potter's wheel which takes time to master, hand-building lets you create functional art on your very first day. We use simple techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab-building to make things that look and feel like 'you.'

Why people love this session:

  • Zero pressure: This is the perfect space to switch off. You don't need prior experience, just a willingness to get a little messy.
  • Creative control: From coffee mugs with personality to intricate lamps and sculptures, you decide what you want to make. I am there to show you how to structure it.
  • Therapeutic vibes: My studio in Whitefield is rooftop and green. It is honestly the best place to slow down, breathe, and just let the clay do its work.

The process:

  1. You make it: We start with clay prep. I will help you design your piece so it survives the firing process.
  2. I finish it: After your session, I take over the technical stuff. I bisque-fire your pieces to harden them and glaze them in my signature studio palette.
  3. You take it home: After a few weeks, your creation is ready for pickup. Seeing a piece you made with your own hands come out of the kiln is a feeling that is hard to describe.

Come by for a session if you want to turn a quiet weekend into a creative one. 🌿
