About Pottery & Clay Handbuilding
Everything here is hand-built, meaning you use your fingers, rolling pins, and carving tools instead of a spinning wheel. It is a relaxing way to slow down, and since we use terracotta clay, you get to focus purely on shaping your piece without worrying about the steep learning curve of wheel throwing.
Whether you have never touched clay or are just looking for a new weekend hobby, our Whitefield studio offers a calm environment to work with your hands. We focus on traditional hand-building techniques, which allow for more creative freedom than a wheel. You will learn the slab method for plates, coiling for vases, and pinching for mugs or small sculptures.
The sessions typically run for 3 hours, giving you plenty of time to refine your piece. Since these are decorative pottery workshops, we use high-quality terracotta and air-dry clay. You can paint your creation right in the studio, so you walk away with a finished, tangible item that represents your personal style.
What to expect in a session:
