I blend the soul of Indian classical music with the energy of jazz, rock, and global rhythms. This is a glimpse into my journey, where every performance—from solo ragas to full band fusion—is a heartfelt offering.

This is "Midnight in Delhi," an original composition that captures the energy of the city after dark. It’s a live fusion piece where my sitar trades notes with violin, guitar, keys, and drums, creating a sound that’s both rooted in tradition and buzzing with modern life.

I am thrilled to announce my 2025 USA tour. Bringing the sound of the sitar from the heritage of India to the heart of America is a dream come true. This poster marks the beginning of a new chapter, and I cannot wait to share my music with you across the country.

Here is my take on "Bones" by Imagine Dragons. I love layering the sitar to create a powerful, orchestral sound that gives a new dimension to Western rock anthems. This is a great example of the East-West crossover sound that is at the core of my music.

Some melodies are timeless, and "Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo" is one of them. In this studio performance, I tried to capture the soulful essence of this classic ghazal. It’s a moment of pure emotion, where every note is a prayer.

This piece, "Inherited," is incredibly personal. It was composed by my father years ago, and I grew up playing it at small gatherings. Performing it on stage with a full rock fusion ensemble and receiving a standing ovation was a moment I will never forget.

Music connects us, no matter where we are. I took a moment by the canals of Amsterdam to play "Tere Naina," and soon, a crowd of strangers gathered to listen. It shows how a simple melody can create a moment of stillness in a bustling city.

Presenting "Prasama," a meditative collaboration where the sitar meets the handpan. This track is about finding a quiet space through sound, blending the textures of different instruments to create a peaceful, reflective journey.

What you see here is the Mehtab Ali Niazi Experience. Whether it is an intimate acoustic trio with guitar and tabla or a full-blown rock fusion concert with drums and bass, my focus remains on the melody. I do not just play songs; I create a space where the sitar conversations with jazz, blues, and even rock. If you are planning an event, think about the energy you want—do you prefer the meditative stillness of a morning raga or the electric pulse of a city-inspired fusion set?

My music is shaped by my 7th-generation lineage and my love for the unexpected. When I perform 'Inherited,' a piece composed by my father, it is about heritage. When we play 'Midnight in Delhi,' it is about the grit and energy of the urban landscape.

Why Book a Sitar Fusion Set?

  • Versatility: We move from Indian classical to reimagined Western hits like Imagine Dragons or Mozart.
  • The Ensemble: I work with professional tabla players, violinists, and drummers who understand the nuance of the sitar.
  • The Sound: We provide specialized contact microphones and pickups for the sitar, ensuring the acoustic warmth is maintained even in large, amplified settings.

A Note on Production

To get the best sound, I am particular about the technical rider. For the full rock fusion ensemble, a 90-minute soundcheck is non-negotiable. I want the bass and the sitar strings to hit just right. If you are hiring me for a corporate or private event, let’s talk about the space. A quiet garden concert needs a very different acoustic setup than a high-energy Sangeet at a banquet hall. My goal is to make sure the music is the most memorable part of your day.

I grew up playing my father's tunes, and today, I take that same sitar to stages across the world. For me, music is the bridge between old-world ragas and the pulse of the city. I am just as at home playing a quiet morning raga as I am rocking out with a full ensemble.
