From Amsterdam's historic churches to stages in Singapore and Nairobi, my sitar travels with me. This is a look at my global performance journey.

A moment of joy on stage at the historic Amstelkerk in Amsterdam. Performing traditional ragas in such a serene and acoustically rich church was a truly special experience.

Playing the Thok Jhala of Raag Bihag in a 200-year-old church in Amsterdam. The way the sound echoed in the space felt like a conversation between the music and the building itself.

A wider shot of my performance in Amsterdam, with my student on Tanpura and Heiko Dijker on Tabla. It was a proud moment to have my student join me on stage for the first time.

A close-up of the musical dialogue between me on sitar, my student on tanpura, and my accompanist on tabla during the Amsterdam concert. This shows the deep listening and connection required in a classical performance.

A powerful shot from the "Night of the Sitars" concert in Amsterdam. The image captures the intense focus and communication between me and the tabla player, Heiko Dijker.

A moment of stillness in Vienna, with my well-traveled sitar case by my side. This city felt like a pause, a quiet breath before the next performance.

Playing my sitar on the steps of a grand fountain in Vienna. The classical European architecture provided a stunning backdrop for the sounds of Indian classical music.

Looking up at the magnificent architecture in Vienna. Traveling as a musician is not just about the concerts, but also about soaking in the culture and atmosphere of each city.

Playing Raag Gaud Sarang by the serene shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne. This was a quiet dialogue between the tradition of the raga and the beauty of nature.

Strolling through old-town Lausanne, inspired by the style of "Peaky Blinders." It’s fun to blend my love for music, style, and different cultures, whether it's in my sound or my look.

About Sitar Across The World: International Tours

Touring internationally with a sitar is a delicate balance of logistics and artistry. Before every international performance, I coordinate directly with local sound engineers to ensure the sitar’s unique acoustic nuances are captured correctly, regardless of the venue's size or architecture.

Music is a language that needs no passport. My international tours have taken me across four continents, from the quiet shores of Lake Geneva to the vibrant stages of Nairobi and Singapore. These shows are more than just performances. They are a bridge between the Indian classical traditions I was raised in and the global audiences I encounter.

Performing in such varied spaces requires more than just playing notes. It requires adapting to the environment. When I played Raag Bihag in a 200-year-old Amsterdam church, the acoustics dictated the pace of the music. In Singapore, performing a 'Strings of Legacy' set where my father once taught was a deeply personal homecoming. Each city offers a different resonance, and my goal is always to honor that space while staying true to the raga.

For international clients, I bring the same technical rigor I use at home. I work with specialized backline requirements and soundcheck protocols to make sure the sitar stands out, whether it is a solo classical set or a fusion ensemble performance. If you are looking to bring a distinct, soulful sound to your international event, I am happy to discuss how we can adapt my ensemble or solo setup to suit your venue.

I believe music is a dialogue that crosses every border. Whether I am performing in a quiet European church or a packed theatre in Singapore, my goal is to create a moment where tradition meets the modern world.
