About this collection
Whether I am performing a formal Raag Yaman at an auditorium or a set of Marathi Abhangs for a family pooja, my goal is always to create a sincere connection. For every event, I arrive 45 minutes early for a line check, as the sound quality, especially for the Surbahar’s deep and meditative notes, is essential for the atmosphere I want to create for your guests.
My Approach to Music
For me, the Sitar and Surbahar are not just instruments, they are my lifelong friends. My training in the Guru-Shishya parampara taught me that music is a form of prayer. When I perform, I aim to translate that devotion into sound, whether it is for a large public festival or an intimate home baithak.
Performance Range
I tailor my performance to the mood of your event:
- Indian Classical: For those who appreciate pure Shastriya Sangeet, I perform Raags like Yaman, Bhimpalas, and Miya Malhar. These are structured as traditional sitar recitals.
- Devotional & Spiritual: I offer soulful renditions of Marathi Abhangs and Hindi Bhajans, perfect for poojas, religious festivals, or spiritual gatherings where the aim is to build a peaceful ambiance.
- Light & Film Instrumentals: To make gatherings more engaging, I also play sitar covers of classic Hindi film songs and ghazals. This works well for corporate dinners, wedding receptions, or family functions where background music that connects with everyone is needed.
Technical Details & Requirements
I perform solo or as a duo with a Tabla accompanist. For performances, I utilize a 'Buddha Pickup' microphone for natural acoustic amplification. If you are hosting a larger event, I work with your venue's PA system to ensure the music carries well. If you have a specific request for a Raag or a song, please let me know three days in advance so I can prepare.
