Learn the fundamentals of art through the vibrant and forgiving medium of poster colors, perfect for building your confidence before moving to canvas.

This video shows a student carefully adding highlights to her strawberry painting. Using poster colors, we learn to build up layers of color to create a realistic, three-dimensional look.

A student works on a still life painting of art supplies using poster colors. This is a great exercise for learning to paint different shapes, textures, and materials.

This cheerful painting of macarons in a teacup was created by a student in my poster color class. It's a perfect example of the fun and colorful subjects we work on.

About this collection

The beauty of poster colors lies in how forgiving they are for a new artist. Unlike acrylics or oils that require complex drying times and blending, poster colors allow you to layer, fix mistakes, and experiment freely. This makes them the absolute best medium to build your brush control and color mixing skills before you move to canvas work.

Why Start with Poster Colors?

If you have never picked up a brush, this is where you start. My poster color sessions are designed to take the intimidation out of art. We focus on paper to learn the essentials: how to hold the brush, how much water to use, and how to mix vibrant shades without making mud.

What You Will Master

  • Brush Control: Learning how to manage thin and thick strokes, which are the building blocks for every other medium.
  • Color Mixing: Understanding the color wheel is easier when you see results instantly. We create custom palettes that pop.
  • Shading and Light: We learn to show volume by using light and shadow, giving your drawings a three-dimensional look.
  • Layering: Because these colors dry matte and opaque, you can build up your painting step-by-step, making it easy to correct any oops moments as you go.

Flexible Learning Options

Whether you prefer the energy of my East Delhi studio or the convenience of learning from your home, I provide real-time guidance.

  • In-Studio: Join a small batch of 6-10 students in a fully equipped space where I can physically guide your brushwork.
  • Online: I use a dual-camera setup for my Zoom classes so you see exactly what I am doing on my paper. You get immediate feedback just like you were sitting right next to me.

Most of my students graduate from these sessions to acrylics or oils within a few weeks, feeling much more confident in their ability to translate what they see onto paper. If you are ready to stop worrying about being perfect and just want to have fun, I would love to have you in my next batch! 😍
