About The Pierre Jeanneret Collection
I use seasoned solid teak and traditional joinery because these chairs need to handle daily weight, not just sit pretty. The rattan cane is hand-woven in the classic square mesh, meaning it provides flexible support that contours to your body, unlike machine-pressed alternatives that snap or lose tension quickly.
The V-leg and Kangaroo chairs are not just aesthetic choices, they are structural feats. I insist on using solid teak because of its natural resistance to moisture and pests, which is crucial for our climate. We do not take shortcuts with the cane either. Each strand is hand-woven, ensuring the backrest has that signature give and comfort. If you want these for a dining set or a lounge corner, I can customize the polish, from a natural matte to a deep walnut or charcoal black, to match your home. While these are historical replicas, they are built to modern standards. Every order takes about 4 to 6 weeks as we complete the wood drying, joinery, and weaving processes in-house at my Oshiwara workshop. If you select a cushion option, I use 40D high-density foam which maintains its shape, paired with premium cotton-linen blends. Every piece comes with a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
