About Statement & Accent Chairs
When we start designing your chair, we look beyond the upholstery. I pay close attention to the structural frame and the PVD finish on the legs, whether it is matt gold, brass, or gunmetal, to ensure the chair fits the hardware palette of your existing space.
Every chair I create starts with a conversation about how you will use the space. An accent chair has to be more than a visual anchor. It needs to provide support where you need it most.
Designing for your home
I often work with clients who have a specific mood board. You might bring me a sample of your curtains or a photograph of your dining area floor. We match the chair design to those details. My process involves:
- Frame Construction: I use treated solid wood or stainless steel to ensure the chair lasts. If you want a specific silhouette, like a curved kidney bean shape or a high-back Victorian style, I build the internal framework from scratch.
- Material Selection: You can choose from textures like premium suede, boucle, or velvet for the upholstery. We then pair these with metal finishes that match your home hardware. If you have gold fittings in your room, I will use a matching matt gold PVD finish on the chair legs.
- Ergonomics: Comfort is not an accident. I use 40-density foam for the seating to make sure the chair maintains its shape over time while feeling soft to sit in.
The process
Once we finalize the design, I oversee the production in my workshop. You get to see the progress, from the raw material phase to the final fabric application. If you are in Bengaluru or Delhi, I encourage you to visit the studio to test the seating comfort before we finalize the production run. If you are ordering from another city, I send detailed photos and fabric swatches so you know exactly what is arriving at your door.
