A warm, eco-conscious home transformation in Bengaluru blending exposed brick and reclaimed wood to create a space that is as welcoming for pets as it is for people.

This double-height living space in The Brick Loft features exposed brick, large windows, and a unique railing made from jute. The hanging light fixture is crafted from an upcycled wooden log.

The dining area features a large wooden table and cool Kota stone flooring, which is perfect for keeping furry friends comfortable. The space is designed for relaxed, communal living.

Sunlight streams across the Kota stone floor, a durable and naturally cool material that we love using in pet-friendly homes. The natural jute rug and floor cushions add to the cozy, rustic vibe.

We created many cozy nooks throughout the home, using natural textures like jute and wood. This log bench and layered rugs create an inviting spot to relax.

The play of sunlight on the floor highlights the different textures of the stone, jute, and wool rugs. We believe in creating spaces that are rich in sensory detail.

This bright, airy corner with a daybed made from upcycled pallets is a perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The large mirror reflects light and makes the space feel even bigger.

We use colorful textiles and cushions to add personality and comfort. The mix of reds, blues, and earthy tones creates a playful and inviting atmosphere.

About The Brick Loft: Rustic, Repurposed, and Pet-Friendly

When we designed this loft, the priority was 'pawsitivity'—making sure every corner was truly lived-in and worry-free. We chose Kota stone for the flooring because it stays naturally cool, perfect for pets, and paired it with exposed brick walls that add texture without needing constant maintenance. It is a space where you do not have to stress about a little mud or a stray scratch; it just adds to the character.

The renovated living room, where we replaced small, dark windows with large sliding ones to flood the space with natural light. The open layout now connects the living and dining areas, creating a more fluid and sociable environment.15

The dining area is now seamlessly connected to the living room, with large windows that look out onto the lush garden. The simple wooden dining table is complemented by contemporary lighting fixtures.
The foyer was redesigned to be a welcoming threshold. The bench and storage unit were crafted from the house's old teak doors, an example of our commitment to upcycling and preserving the history of a space.

The entrance to this home, named 'Samskruthi', features a natural stone compound wall and a gate made from reclaimed wood logs. These earthy materials create a warm, inviting, and distinctly personal welcome.

For our Earthen Spirit project, we designed this open terrace to be a hub of activity. The sloping roof features traditional Mangalore tiles with glass inserts, a design that scatters natural light across the floor in shifting patterns. This approach creates a bright, dynamic atmosphere that changes throughout the day, connecting the indoor space with the rhythm of the sun.6
This is the completed exterior of the Earthen Spirit project, a warehouse we repurposed into a modern co-living space called Zolo Java. We added new balconies and a striking multi-layered roof structure, blending the building's industrial past with a fresh, residential feel. The final design stands as a testament to how adaptive reuse can revitalize urban structures.
In our EESHA residence project, we used Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) for the walls. These unburnt mud bricks provide excellent thermal insulation and are a core part of our sustainable building practice. The doorway shown here features a repurposed frame salvaged from a demolished home, giving a new life to old materials.
This is the cafeteria area within the Earthen Spirit co-living space, located on the open terrace. We used simple wooden furniture and patterned cement tiles to create a welcoming community area. The glass wall provides a clear view of the new double-height staircase, making the entire space feel connected and expansive.

We often explore the sculptural possibilities of common materials. This detail from the Ferns Cottage shows a projecting brick pattern that creates intricate shadows and adds a unique texture to the facade.8
For this holiday home in Mangalore, we used locally sourced laterite stone for the walls. Its rich, earthy red color and porous texture give the building a strong sense of place and regional identity.
A wall of random rubble masonry provides a rugged, textural contrast to the smooth, finished surfaces of this Mangalore holiday home. The window opening is left without a frame to emphasize the thickness of the stone wall.
