About Meet Our Artists
Being part of our team is not just about showing up with a drum. Each artist here has put in the hours, from shoulder conditioning to mastering complex Chembada Melam beats, to handle the physical demand of our 13kg Chendas for hours on end. Whether you are seeing us perform or looking to join our training batches, what you see here is the result of that shared grind.
When you see us perform, you are seeing a brotherhood in action. We believe the energy of a Chenda Melam comes from the connection between the players. That is why we invest so much in our training process, starting from the basics of stick control, or Kolthaari, to full endurance sessions.
We are currently based in T. Dasarahalli and actively looking for dedicated individuals who want to learn. Our training structure is rigorous because the instrument is heavy. We do not look for shortcuts. We look for students who are ready to put in the work.
Our Training Approach:
- Strength Building: We start with conditioning exercises to help you hold the 13kg instrument comfortably for long performances.
- Rhythm Mastery: We drill down on specific rhythms like Shinkarimelam to ensure the ensemble moves and beats as one.
- The Arangetam: Every student works toward their Arangetam, their official debut. We handle the venue, logistics, and media coordination so you can focus on the performance.
If you are curious about our training or want to book us for an event, check out our details below. We are always happy to connect with fellow percussion lovers.
