Mahadeva Kalasamithi Chenda Melam Gallery
Experience the raw energy and rhythm of our Chenda Melam performances. From traditional temple beats to high-octane fusion, we bring our full passion to every stage.
**(Hero Media)** This is what it takes. The Chenda weighs around 13 kgs, and playing it for hours requires real passion and stamina. This video shows the intensity and dedication I look for in my students and bring to every performance.
The peak moment of a performance, where the energy of the entire team comes together in a powerful crescendo. This is the raw, unfiltered passion of a live Chenda Melam.
Your debut is a huge milestone, and I make sure it's a grand event. This is an invitation from a recent student Arangetam I organized, complete with a temple venue and a celebration for the new artists.
Our full squad, Mahadeva Kalasamithi. We are a large, coordinated team of dedicated percussionists, ready to bring the thunder of a traditional Melam to your event in Bangalore.
It's not just about the sound, it's about the vibe. Watch how the crowd gets swept up in the energy of our performance. We create an atmosphere that makes everyone want to move.
We blend modern style with deep-rooted tradition. This is the new generation of Chenda artists, showing strength, pride, and a love for the art form.
Your Arangetam deserves to be recognized. I handle the event promotion to make sure your debut gets noticed, like this feature in the Mathrubhumi newspaper for one of our student ceremonies.
Our name, Mahadeva, reflects our spiritual connection to the art. Here is our team at the Adiyogi Shiva statue, a source of inspiration for our powerful rhythms.
About Featured
A standard Chenda weighs 13 kilos, and playing it for three hours straight is a test of pure physical endurance. When you see our team perform, you are seeing the result of years of practicing Chembada Melam and Shinkarimelam beats, where we prioritize stamina and synchronization over everything else.
We don't just play, we create a vibe. Our ensemble is built on the belief that percussion is about connection—between the drummer and the instrument, and between the team and the crowd. We train at our base in T. Dasarahalli, where we focus on stick control (Kolthaari) and physical conditioning before any rhythm work begins.
Our Approach to Percussion
Whether it is a temple festival, a college fest, or a private event, we bring a high-energy performance style. We offer:
- Shinkarimelam and Chendamelam: Traditional rhythm arrangements for weddings and public celebrations.
- Chenda Fusion: Modern, upbeat percussion sets for when you want the crowd moving.
Learning the Craft
For those looking to master this art, we guide you from your very first session to your Arangetam (debut). We believe that if you have the fire, you can learn. Our Arangetam package includes everything from venue management at a local temple to media coverage and professional photography, making sure your debut is a genuine celebration of your hard work. If you are planning an event in Bangalore or looking to join our training batches, reach out to us. We are always looking for people who respect the discipline of the beat.
