Your Path to a Professional Chenda Arangetam
Start your journey from basic rhythms to your first grand Chenda Arangetam. I guide you through the discipline, the sweat, and the stage presence needed to own your debut performance in Bengaluru.
Another proud moment for our students featured in the Janmabhumi newspaper. I ensure every Arangetam is a professionally managed event that gets the attention it deserves.
This is where it all begins. A glimpse into our practice sessions, where students learn to sync up and build the unity required for a powerful ensemble performance.
A look at one of our student group performances at Sambhram Institutions. Every training program is designed to build the confidence and skill needed to perform in front of an audience.
About Your Chenda Arangetam: From Training to Debut
Learning the Chenda isn't just about rhythm; it is about pure endurance. You will be handling a 13kg instrument for hours, so expect training that focuses as much on shoulder strength as it does on stick control. My Arangetam package isn't just a certification ceremony. I personally manage the temple venue booking, coordinate the senior artists who support you, and handle the media coverage so your debut feels like the celebration it should be.
From First Beat to Arangetam
Many students come to me thinking the Chenda is just about hitting the drum. You will learn quickly that it is about focus. My training program at T. Dasarahalli is designed to take you from a complete beginner to a performer ready for the stage.
We start with the basics of Kolthaari (stick control) and gradually build up to the Chembada Melam and Shinkarimelam styles. Because the Chenda weighs 13 kilos, we incorporate physical conditioning into every session. If you are not ready for the physical toll, you will not be ready for the stage.
What Your Arangetam Includes
The Arangetam is the defining moment for any percussionist. I handle the logistics so you can focus on your performance. This includes:
- Venue Management: I secure a traditional temple venue, which provides the right acoustics and cultural setting for your debut.
- Senior Support: You will not be playing alone. I bring in our experienced senior artists to accompany you, ensuring the rhythm remains tight and professional.
- Media Coverage: We coordinate with local media and provide professional event photography. This ensures your Arangetam gets the public recognition it deserves.
- The Full Look: Uniforms (Mundu and Thorthu) and full dress rehearsals are part of the package to make sure you look and feel the part.
Who This Is For
I look for students with grit. If you want to join our main team eventually, the Arangetam is the gateway. I do not care about your age or your background; I care about whether you are willing to put in the hours. If you have the fire, we have the space for you.
