Meet the Artists Behind Rhythm of Kerala
We are a collective of percussionists based in Bangalore, bringing the authentic energy of Kerala’s traditional beats to your celebrations.
I am incredibly proud to feature talented and dedicated female artists like Idhika Sijimon in my team. Her skill and power on the Chenda are an inspiration and show that rhythm has no gender.
A close look at the artists who form the backbone of our team. Here, Thiruvilwamala Hari leads the rhythm with precision and passion, showcasing the skill that defines our performances.
This is Kshethrakalapeedam Vaikom Anilkumar, one of our senior artists, guiding the ensemble through a complex rhythm. His experience is invaluable to our traditional Panjarimelam sets.
The future of Chenda Melam is bright. It is a joy to have young, dedicated artists learning and performing alongside our experienced players, ensuring the tradition continues with passion.

About Meet Our Artists
Every performance you see is a blend of generations. When you book us, you aren't getting a random group; you get a synchronized team that includes seasoned masters like Vaikom Anilkumar alongside rising stars like Idhika Sijimon. We consciously mix experience with fresh energy to ensure every beat is sharp, whether we are performing a tight 6-person set or a grand 100-artist procession.
Our troupe is more than just a band; it is a family of artists dedicated to the Chenda Melam. In a city like Bangalore, where we bring Kerala's percussion to weddings, temple festivals, and corporate events, the chemistry between our players is what keeps the rhythm tight.
Who Makes Up Our Team
We structure our groups based on your event's scale and requirement:
- The Masters (Pramani): For our traditional Panjarimelam and Singarimelam sets, our experienced leaders guide the tempo. They ensure the intricate rhythm patterns remain authentic and devotional, maintaining the standards passed down through generations.
- The Next Generation: We actively mentor young, dedicated learners. Performing alongside veterans allows them to absorb the nuances of the Chenda, ensuring the art form survives and thrives in our modern city environment.
- Inclusive Talent: We are proud of our diverse team, including talented female Chenda players. Rhythm has no gender, and seeing more women taking the stage and smashing drums is a huge part of our identity and future.
Why the Team Composition Matters
When you hire us, you are not just booking 'musicians.' You are booking a coordinated ensemble. Whether it's a 6-member group for a groom's entry or a 15-member orchestra for a temple event with Kombu and Kuzhal, we ensure the right mix of Chenda and Ilathalam (cymbal) players. We believe this balance is the difference between simple noise and a powerful, soul-stirring performance. We don't just show up and play; we show up to move the crowd.
