Maharashtrian Heritage Newborn Photography
I bring our vibrant culture to life in your baby's first portraits. From the strength of Rajmata Jijabai to the peace of a Warkari theme, I provide all the props and setups for a timeless, heartfelt session.
A beautiful portrait of a newborn as Rajmata Jijabai, complete with a traditional red saree wrap, gold coin necklace, and a miniature sword. I focus on getting these details just right while the baby sleeps soundly.
A close-up shot focusing on the peaceful expression of the baby, adorned with a bindi and nose ring for the Jijabai theme. The soft lighting highlights her delicate features.
This wider shot shows the full royal setup, including a Peshwai turban (pheta), a trishul, and a damaru, blending elements of Shivaji Maharaj and Shaivism into one powerful image.
A divine Warkari theme, with the baby peacefully sleeping beside idols of Lord Vitthal and Rukmini. This setup is perfect for families who want to celebrate their faith and cultural traditions.
Dressed as a little Warkari devotee, this baby is styled with a Gandhi cap, a shawl, and tiny cymbals on a soft white fur backdrop. It's a serene and soulful concept.
A classic black and white take on the Warkari theme, featuring a Tulsi plant and a holy book to complete the devotional setting. The monochrome tones add a timeless, artistic feel.
An overhead view of the Rajmata Jijabai setup, showing the baby nestled in a rustic wooden crate with a soft green lining, creating a beautiful color contrast with the red saree.
Another angle of the Jijabai theme, highlighting the golden sword prop placed carefully beside the sleeping baby. Safety is always my first priority when using any props.
This short video transitions between different shots from the Warkari and Jijabai themed sessions, showing the variety of angles and compositions I capture.

About Maharashtrian Heritage Shoots
I focus on making these shoots effortless for new parents by managing every detail myself, from sanitizing the traditional props to handling the complex swaddling required for these looks. Since the 5 to 15 day window is short, I bring all the outfits and equipment to our session so we can focus entirely on capturing these precious, culturally rich portraits.
Bringing our Maharashtrian roots into the studio is something I take very seriously. When you choose a heritage theme, you are not just getting a photo. You are creating a link to the culture and history that defines us. I use authentic elements to ensure the look is respectful and realistic.
For a Rajmata Jijabai session, I source miniature swords, traditional sarees, and gold jewelry that fit a newborn safely. If you prefer the peace of a Warkari shoot, I include symbolic elements like the Vithoba-Rukmini idols, Tulsi, and musical instruments. Every prop is sanitized before your session because, as an engineer, I know that safety and hygiene are non-negotiable.
My process is built around the baby’s comfort. Newborns between 5 and 15 days old are in their most flexible phase. They are sleepy and easy to pose, which allows me to use high-end Godox lighting to create dramatic, painting-like textures without disturbing them. Whether we are in my Kopar Khairane studio or at your home in Pune or Mumbai, I set up a calm environment.
I encourage parents and grandparents to join for the family portraits. These early days go by in a blur, and capturing the connection between generations is just as important as the individual baby shots. If you have a specific heirloom or idea in mind, let me know. I am always happy to blend it with my current setups.

Hi, I’m Lakhan. I’m an engineer by degree but a photographer by heart, and I’m obsessed with bringing our Maharashtrian roots into the studio. I love styling newborns in these traditional themes because they aren't just photos, they're little tributes to our culture.
