About Awake & Expressive Moments
Getting these awake shots is about patience and the right environment, not just fast shutter speeds. Because I use continuous Godox lighting rather than a harsh camera flash, I can keep the studio environment bright and calm, allowing your baby to look around comfortably without getting startled or overstimulated during the session.
While the classic sleepy newborn pose is a staple, there is something truly special about capturing your baby’s budding personality. When a baby is alert and looking at the camera, you get a glimpse of their unique character that you just will not find in a traditional slumber portrait.
I balance these sessions with a mix of swaddled setups and slightly looser poses, ensuring the baby feels secure even when they are active. Safety is the priority; I never force a position. If the baby is fussy, we pause, feed, or cuddle—there is no rush. This is not just about a cute look; it is about documenting the very first time they take in the world around them.
Whether we are shooting in my Kopar Khairane studio or I am bringing my mobile setup to your home in Pune or across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, the environment is always sanitized and controlled. I focus on creating a rhythm that follows the baby's mood rather than a strict schedule. If they want to stay awake and explore, we follow their lead. I have plenty of props and outfits, but the star of this session is the baby's own expressions—the winks, the frowns, and the curious stares.
