Why I Love Awake Shots

Most people think newborn photography is only about sleeping babies, but the awake moments are where the real personality shows up. Whether your baby is giving me a look of pure curiosity, a tiny yawn, or a full-blown gummy smile, these shots tell a story. In my Mumbai studio, I don't follow a strict timeline. If your baby is awake and alert, we lean into it.

How I Capture the Moment

• The 'Baby Whisperer' Approach: I become an entertainer. I make funny noises, use simple props, or just chat with them until I get a reaction. When they are awake, they are interacting with the world, and my job is to be ready to hit the shutter at that exact second.
• Studio Environment: I use professional Godox strobe lighting. This gives me the flexibility to keep the studio bright enough to capture details like eye color and expression without relying on harsh flashes that might disturb or overwhelm a newborn.
• Patience is Key: These sessions are un-rushed. If your baby needs a feed or a cuddle, we stop. We only shoot when the baby is happy and comfortable.

Safety and Comfort

Even when the baby is wide awake, safety is my number one priority. I am trained in newborn handling and posing. For awake shots, I often use secure props like wicker baskets or moons, or we do tummy-time-inspired poses on soft, sanitized pillows. You can sit back, relax, and watch me work my magic while knowing your little one is in safe hands.
