I don’t believe in rushing a shoot just to get a specific look. If your baby is awake and looking around, that is where the real magic happens. We will take our time in the studio, ensuring they feel comfortable enough to show us their personality—whether that is a curious stare, a big toothless grin, or even a classic newborn yawn. My goal is to capture those fleeting, unscripted moments that you will want to look back on forever.
Why I Love Awake Portraits
Most newborn photography focuses on the deep sleep phase, but some of my favourite images are the ones where a baby is wide awake. Those first weeks go by in a blur, and capturing their curious eyes can feel just as special as the sleepy poses. Whether it is a tiny finger grasp or a surprised look, these moments tell a story that is uniquely theirs.
How We Manage the Session
My Powai studio is designed to be a calm, safe space. I keep the environment quiet and cozy, which helps babies stay relaxed. If they get fussy, we do not panic. We go with the flow—that means taking breaks for feeding, soothing, or just some extra cuddles with mum and dad. My priority is your baby’s comfort, not getting a perfect shot on a strict timeline.
Preparing for Your Shoot
- Timing: I always suggest planning the session around your baby's nap schedule. A well-rested, fed baby is a happy baby.
- Outfits: I provide a range of knitted rompers and soft wraps in the studio. You do not need to worry about bringing anything besides the basics for the baby.
- Involvement: I love including parents in these portraits. Whether it is holding your baby’s hands or just being nearby for comfort, your presence adds a layer of love and security that comes through in every photo.
These portraits are not just about a pretty backdrop. They are about freezing a moment in time—the way they look at you, the way they explore the world, and the joy they bring into your home.
