About this collection

Our belt exams are not handed out; they are earned through rigorous assessment of Kihon, Kata, and Kumite. Whether you are aiming for your first yellow belt or working toward the advanced Shodan, you will sit in seiza and prove your focus and technical precision under the watchful eyes of our senior instructors before receiving your official certification.

The Journey to the Next Belt

In traditional Shotokan karate, a belt is more than a piece of fabric. It is a marker of time, effort, and internal growth. Our grading curriculum follows the WSKF (World Shotokan Karate Federation) standards, ensuring that every rank advancement reflects a genuine increase in ability and understanding.

What We Evaluate

During our grading sessions held across our Bangalore dojos—including Silicon City, Prestige Falcon City, Purva Belmont, and Mahavir Palms—students demonstrate:

  • Kihon (Fundamentals): We look for stability in stances and correct force generation in punches and blocks.
  • Kata (Forms): This is the core of our training. We assess balance, timing, and the mental focus required to execute complex patterns.
  • Kumite (Sparring): For advanced grades, we observe how students manage distance, reaction speed, and control during controlled sparring scenarios.

Certification and Recognition

We take pride in our direct affiliation with WSKF Japan. This means that when a student earns a rank here, it is not just a local certificate; it is recognized within the global Shotokan community. For our students, receiving that diploma from their Sensei is often the highlight of their training year—a moment that validates the thousands of repetitions performed in the dojo.

A Community Celebration

While the exam itself is a serious, quiet affair filled with focus, the aftermath is entirely different. You will often see the 'karate family' cheering for each other, taking photos with certificates, and celebrating the new rank together. We encourage this because karate is an individual pursuit that is made easier when you have a team behind you.
