Mastering Flexibility & Splits: Shaolin Training
Kung Fu is about being like water—flowing and adaptable. My flexibility method helps you achieve full splits and deep range of motion through disciplined Shaolin mobility drills.
We use suspension straps to assist with drills like this wall split. This method allows the student to control the intensity of the stretch, building both flexibility and confidence safely.
Achieving a full middle split takes time and the right technique. Here, a student uses boxes to support his legs, allowing his body to gradually adapt and open up the hips.
The standing split is an advanced skill that demonstrates an incredible combination of balance and flexibility. This is a goal we work towards through a series of progressive hamstring and hip-opening exercises.

We do not just stretch; we condition the body. I use tools like TRX straps and support boxes to safely guide you into full side and middle splits, focusing on control and alignment so you actually gain functional strength alongside your flexibility.
Many people think flexibility comes from pushing until you hurt. That is not the way. In my classes, we focus on safe, progressive overload. Whether you are an adult wanting to touch your toes or a kid working toward advanced tumbling, the principles are the same: consistency and the right technique.
Why this method works
- Shaolin Mobility: This is not passive yoga. We use dynamic kicking drills and martial arts stances to build active range of motion.
- Specialized Tools: I bring TRX suspension straps and foam mats to home sessions, or we use the functional studio in Vasant Vihar. These tools provide the support needed to go deeper into a split without injury.
- Mental Discipline: Flexibility is as much about the mind as the body. If you accept defeat before trying, you will not improve. We train to stay fitt & active, pushing past the 'I can't' mindset.
