About A Year at Kriya: Our Stories in Motion
What you see in these videos is the result of our daily work cycle. You might notice a child spending an hour carefully pouring grains, or a group collaborating on a math problem, completely absorbed in their own rhythm. We do not rush these moments because this is where true independence is built, one deliberate, focused movement at a time.
When you look closely at these highlights, you are seeing the Montessori method in action, not a staged event. Whether it is a toddler learning to button a shirt or an elementary student exploring botany, every activity is designed to serve a specific developmental need.
The Prepared Environment
In our Kalyan Nagar classrooms, the environment is the teacher. Everything—from the child-sized furniture to the accessible shelves—is intentional. We place materials at the child’s height to empower them to choose their work, build concentration, and develop self-discipline without needing constant adult intervention.
Mixed-Age Learning
Our classrooms bring children of different ages together. You will see older children helping younger ones, which fosters empathy and leadership, while younger students learn by observing their peers. This dynamic creates a family-like atmosphere where everyone contributes and learns at their own pace.
A Focus on Practical Life
We prioritize skills that matter in the real world. You will see our students cooking, gardening, and cleaning. These practical life tasks build fine motor skills, coordination, and a sense of responsibility. When a child successfully chops fruit or waters a plant, they are not just completing a task; they are internalizing the belief that 'I can do this myself.'
We invite you to look past the activity to the quiet confidence the children are gaining. Each month we document is a testament to what happens when we stop directing and start observing.
