Therapeutic Yoga and Traditional Asana Practice
Yoga is a science of the body, mind, and spirit. From adaptive chair yoga for limited mobility to traditional asanas for deep healing, these practices help you manage chronic conditions and find inner balance.
I find that practicing Kandasana, or the Ankle-Lock Pose, connects me to the very root of yogic energy. This advanced posture, performed here by the serene waters of a lake at dawn, requires immense flexibility and focus, embodying the harmony between body and spirit that I guide my students to achieve.
My therapeutic yoga practice offers specific support for neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease. This infographic shows the typical physical challenges, and my sessions focus on re-establishing the mind-body connection to improve posture, reduce rigidity, and enhance overall mobility.
Yoga should be accessible to everyone. Here, I demonstrate a variation of the Revolved Bird of Paradise pose using a chair for support. This is an example of adaptive yoga, where we use props to make even advanced postures achievable, ensuring a safe and effective practice for those with limited mobility.
Pranayama, or the science of breathwork, is central to healing. In this image, I am practicing Nadi Shuddhi pranayama in a peaceful park. This technique is invaluable for calming the mind, reducing anxiety, and balancing the body's vital energy, or prana.
Natarajasana, the Lord of the Dance Pose, is a beautiful expression of balance and grace. Practicing this asana by the water reminds me that true stability comes from a calm and focused mind, a state we cultivate together in our sessions to manage stress and find inner peace.
This video demonstrates the movements of Baddha Konasana, or the Bound Angle Pose. It is a deeply therapeutic posture that I often include in sessions for women's health to soothe menstrual discomfort and for individuals seeking relief from sciatica and fatigue.
Ustrasana, or Camel Pose, is a powerful backbend that opens the heart chakra and stretches the entire front of the body. Practicing this asana helps improve posture and can alleviate mild back pain, demonstrating how yogic science can be applied to heal the body.
About Featured
Whether you are navigating chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or managing a condition like Parkinson's, my approach relies on one-on-one customization. I do not just teach poses. I use props like chairs, blocks, and belts to ensure every asana is accessible to your current physical state. My sessions include manual adjustments and specific breathing techniques to reconnect the mind and body.
My work is defined by Nitya Abhyasa, the concept of regular, disciplined practice. This is not about achieving the perfect pose for a photograph. It is about using asanas to address real, tangible health challenges.
Therapeutic and Adaptive Approach
If you have limited mobility, rigid muscles, or chronic discomfort, we do not force the body into traditional shapes. We use the wall, a chair, or blocks to modify the posture. For example, if you are working to manage Parkinson's disease or sciatica, we focus on specific sequences that improve blood flow and reduce stiffness, rather than complex balance work.
The Diagnostic Process
Every new student begins with a diagnostic consultation. This 75-90 minute session allows me to review your medical history, test your range of motion, and understand your pain thresholds. From this, we create a treatment roadmap. We do not jump into advanced postures without first establishing a baseline of safety and understanding.
Beyond Physicality
My practice is deeply influenced by the Bhagavad Gita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. We do not just perform movements. We incorporate Pranayama (breathwork) to calm the nervous system and manage anxiety. Whether we are in your home in Ahmedabad or connecting via video call, the goal remains consistent: moving from a state of physical or mental imbalance back to harmony. If you are ready to take responsibility for your health, reach out, and we can discuss a plan tailored to your specific needs.
