From Street to Safety: Our Rescue and Recovery Stories
Every street dog has a story. Some are found on the brink of collapse, waiting for someone to notice. These are the transformations we fight for every day in Delhi-NCR.
This video will put a smile on your face. This dog was reported from Loni, weak and injured. We picked him up and shifted him to our medical boarding. This is him now, healthy and happy. This is how your contributions help us create miracles.
The recovery story of Kashi. This is a three month journey in a 90 second video. He was found near death, but with your support, we were able to help him heal and recover. He was finally released back to his area, happy and healthy.
This dog was reported paralyzed from Ghaziabad. He was found dragging his lower body. After a month of intensive treatment and physiotherapy, he has started putting weight on his back legs and is walking again. His name is Vijay, and he has a long way to go, but he is a fighter.
The recovery and release story of Agni. She was reported from Pushp Vihar in January, and we picked her up in the night as no local volunteer would help. After treatment, she was healed and released back into her original territory.
It took us 16 hours to find this old, partially blind dog in Pushp Vihar after he was reported. We named him Poppy. He is now safe at our boarding facility and will spend his golden years in peace, in a place he can call home.
The healing journey of Kashi. Every penny you contribute helps us save lives like his. From being found covered in ticks with a leg eaten by maggots, to this playful boy rolling on his back, his transformation is what keeps us going.
This is Kay, who was rescued from the Tughlakabad jungle, emaciated and with multiple maggot wounds. The first image is a screenshot from the Facebook post asking for help. The next frames show him after we rescued him and started his treatment. He is now on the path to recovery.
About From Street to Safety: Our Recovery Stories
Every recovery you see here started with a 16-hour search or a frantic middle-of-the-night call. We do not just clear streets; we tackle maggot wounds, paralysis, and severe trauma. Our medical boarding is not a shelter—it is a high-care facility where we fight for every life until they can be safely released back home.
Our mission is simple: if they are suffering, we step in. When you see a 'bag of bones' or an animal left behind after an accident, it is easy to look away. We choose to stop.
How We Manage Recovery
We do not operate like a standard shelter. We treat each animal as an individual case.
- Emergency Triage: Whether it is a hit-and-run in Loni or a case of abandonment in Pushp Vihar, our ambulance is equipped to stabilize trauma cases on the spot.
- Medical Boarding: Cases requiring complex surgery, like amputation or orthopedic pinning, are moved to medical boarding for 15 to 30 days. This is where the real work happens—daily dressing, wound management, and high-protein nutrition.
- The 'Treat & Release' Protocol: We are not about locking dogs away. If an animal can return to their community, we ensure they are healed, vaccinated, and returned to their original territory. They are not 'stray'—they are community members.
The Reality of Activism
We are not funded by big corporations. Our ability to fix a mangled leg or nurse a paralyzed dog back to standing is entirely dependent on everyday people chipping in. When you support a recovery, you are paying for the blood work, the gas anesthesia, the daily chicken and rice meals, and the physiotherapy that turns a 'hopeless' case into a survivor like Vijay or Kashi.
If you see an animal in pain, do not wait for someone else to act. Report it, and help us get them into the ambulance.
