Rescue and Recovery: Our Fight for Animals in Bangalore
These stories from our frontline are the reality of animal cruelty. Beyond providing emergency trauma care, we use the law to hold abusers accountable and ensure justice for the animals we rescue.
This puppy was brought to our trauma center after being hit so hard on the head that his jaw broke and his eyeballs popped out. This is a trigger warning for the graphic nature of his injuries.
The impact from the blow caused severe head injuries. My role is not just to provide legal aid but to ensure the system holds the perpetrators of such violence accountable.
Despite the immense pain, he is bravely fighting. Our team started emergency treatment, and his recovery journey is a testament to his strength.
We are hopeful for a steady recovery for this sweet boy. Cases like his require extensive medical funds, which is why holding abusers financially responsible through legal action is also crucial.
A photo showing the puppy resting at our trauma center. His journey from victim to survivor is a powerful reminder of why I do this work.
This German Shepherd was found with a metal chain embedded deep into his neck. This is a clear case of criminal neglect. I guide people through the process of filing FIRs and building a strong case to ensure such cruelty does not go unpunished.
This community dog was found with a tight wire cutting into his flesh. This is a common but horrific form of passive cruelty that I often provide legal guidance on.
About this collection
Treating a broken jaw or removing a wire embedded in a neck is only the first step of our work. We see the worst of human cruelty, but we also witness the incredible resilience of these survivors. To truly protect them, we must use legal action to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure these acts do not happen again.
Every animal in these photos has a story of survival, but recovery is just one part of the journey. In Bangalore, medical care must go hand-in-hand with strict legal enforcement. When we rescue a puppy with trauma or a dog suffering from neglect, we also document the evidence required to fight back.
We operate on the principle of 'science, not fear.' This means we don't just react to cruelty; we use the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act and IPC sections to push for justice. Whether it is an RWA harassing community feeders, illegal pet breeding, or hit-and-run cases, the law is our most powerful tool.
If you are witnessing cruelty, your first priority is the animal's immediate safety. Get them to a vet, document the incident with photos and videos, and reach out to us. We help with:
- Drafting formal complaints and FIRs.
- Navigating BBMP guidelines for community animal protection.
- Escalating cases where local authorities refuse to act.
Our trauma center is a safe haven, but a truly safe city is one where animals are protected by the community and the law, not just by our shelter walls.
