Mastering Fondant & Cake Decoration
Whether you are a home baker or looking to refine your professional skills, my workshops focus on the details that make a cake truly stand out. From achieving razor-sharp edges to molding custom fondant toppers, let's learn the craft together in a hands-on, supportive space.
Here’s a little peek into my Basic Cake Decoration class. We start with the fundamentals, like kneading fondant until it's perfectly smooth. Then, I show you how to paint delicate details on your own handmade toppers before placing them on your beautifully finished cake.
For this superhero-themed dessert table, we created an entire edible city! This video shows the detailed work that goes into making fondant figures like Captain America and Superman, which became the centerpiece of a truly epic birthday celebration.
This gravity-defying cake was such a fun project, featuring a big teddy bear holding a hat box filled with smaller bears. It’s a great example of how you can use structure and fondant to create something truly magical.
I’m so blessed to create cakes that celebrate special moments. Here I am with a happy client and her custom cakes, including fondant family figurines and teddy bears. Each cake tells a unique story.
About Mastering Fondant & Cake Decoration
The secret to a great fondant cake is not just the recipe, it is the prep work. In my classes, we do not skip the basics; we spend time learning how to properly knead and roll fondant so it is smooth, stretchy, and strong enough to drape without tearing. You will learn exactly how to handle the material so your final cake looks polished, not just covered.
When you walk into the studio, we dive straight into the science of sugar. Whether you are aiming for that perfectly smooth, sharp-edged finish or trying your hand at sculpting edible figurines, the process requires patience and the right tools.
In these sessions, we cover:
- Foundation work: Getting the consistency of your fondant right and mastering the art of draping without air bubbles.
- Precision detailing: How to use professional tools to create clean, sharp edges that give your cakes an atas (fancy) finish.
- Creative expression: Techniques for molding custom toppers, like the character work you see in my gallery.
My goal is to create a space where you can ask questions, try techniques, and even fail a little. That is how we learn. Whether you are doing this to bake for your family or looking to start your own professional journey, you will leave with a new set of skills and the confidence to use them at home.
