Whether you are learning to mix colours for the first time or want to master knife painting, these sessions help you build confidence on canvas. Learn at your own pace with small, focused groups in Bangalore.

An acrylic painting on canvas of Lord Shiva and Nandi, created by my student Varsha. This piece combines spiritual themes with a vibrant, imaginative landscape.

This stunning oil painting of the Alps was created by my 16-year-old student, Charunethra. She has beautifully captured the grandeur of the mountains and the serenity of the lake.

A portrait of Ratan Tata, created with oil paints. This piece aims to capture the character and quiet strength of a leader I admire for his simplicity and humanity.

A customized oil painting of Sir C.V. Raman, to which I've added a traditional touch with a Tanjore-style frame. This shows how different art forms can be blended.

An oil painting of Buddha by my 15-year-old student, Abhay. He has used warm colours and soft blending to create a feeling of peace and serenity.

An oil painting of pink peonies on canvas. This piece focuses on creating depth and realism by carefully layering colours and paying attention to light and shadow.

An oil painting of pink tulips on canvas. The soft, out-of-focus background helps to make the flowers the main subject of the piece.

A vibrant floral painting in acrylic on canvas by my 12-year-old student, Stuti. She has shown a great understanding of colour harmony and composition.

An oil painting study of water droplets on leaves. This technical exercise is about capturing the reflection and transparency of water, making the leaves look fresh and lifelike.

An oil painting by my 14-year-old student, Abhay Kashyap. He has created a wonderful composition of monstera leaves and ladybugs, playing with light, shadow, and water droplets.

About Oil & Acrylic Painting

In these sessions, we focus on the practical side of painting. While I provide studio easel space and appropriate lighting, you will need to bring your own canvases, paints, and brushes. This gives you the freedom to choose the brands you are comfortable with as we work together on color theory, knife painting, and proper canvas preparation.

Mastering Oil and Acrylic

Working with oils and acrylics is fundamentally different from sketching or watercolours. Oils offer a longer drying time, which is perfect for blending and creating rich, layered effects. Acrylics are fast-drying and vibrant, making them an excellent choice if you want to see results quickly or work in stages.

What We Cover

  • Canvas Fundamentals: We start with how to prime and prepare your surface, ensuring your work lasts.
  • Technical Skills: You will learn knife painting for texture (impasto), glazing for depth, and specific brush control techniques.
  • Color Theory: Understanding how to mix, balance, and layer colors is key to making your work pop.
  • Composition: We focus on the 'why' behind the placement of objects, looking at composition rules for both still-life arrangements and landscapes.

Getting Started

I run these classes in small batches of 4 to 6 students at my Indiranagar studio. This size ensures I can walk over, check your brushstroke, and guide you personally through your project. Whether you are painting a complex portrait or a simple fruit study, we review your progress every week to make sure you are improving your technique. If you are just starting, we begin with exercises like apple or strawberry studies to understand light and shadow before moving to larger, more detailed compositions.
