Custom Villa and Weekend Home Architecture

Designing a home is about the spaces in between. Whether for a weekend retreat or an urban residence, we focus on creating sanctuaries that blend with their environment.

The terrace of the 'Wilasa' villa is a sun-filled atrium designed for relaxation. The skylight roof and extensive planters create a greenhouse effect, making it a perfect space for yoga or quiet contemplation.

This wider view of the 'Wilasa' terrace shows the integration of a home gym behind glass walls. This keeps the space open and connected while dedicating an area for fitness.

The family lounge in 'Wilasa' features a concrete-paneled accent wall and a large sectional sofa. The full-length glass balcony offers expansive views and fills the room with natural light.

This cozy family space in 'Wilasa' is located on an upper floor, connecting the bedrooms. The material palette of wood, concrete, and soft textiles creates a warm and modern relaxation area.

A bedroom in the 'Wilasa' villa, designed for comfort and style. It features a cushioned headboard, a cozy window seat for reading, and a neutral color palette that promotes restfulness.

Smart storage is key to a minimalist aesthetic. In this 'Wilasa' bedroom, I designed a wall-mounted unit that combines closed cabinets with open shelves for books and decor, keeping the space uncluttered.

This video tour of 'Wilasa' shows how the villa's spaces are designed for a luxurious, modern lifestyle. It highlights the open living and dining areas, the private family lounges, and the light-filled terrace.

About this collection

We design villas to be more than just square footage; they are experiments in how you live. For a weekend home, we might use exposed brick and double-height volumes to create a rustic, breathable structure that connects to the landscape, whereas in an urban villa, we might introduce skylights and glass atriums to carve out private, sun-drenched pockets within a dense city setting.

When we take on a villa project, our first step is site analysis—tracing the sun path and wind direction. In projects like 'Malenadu Mane', this led us to design a weekend retreat that sits on a hill, maximizing the view through horizontal window frames and utilizing local materials for a rustic finish. The design creates a close relationship with the surrounding coffee and pepper plantations, ensuring the house does not just sit on the land but merges into it.

Conversely, for urban villas like 'Wilasa', the challenge shifts. In a dense context, privacy and daylight become the core design drivers. We create internal courtyards or glass-walled atriums to bring the outdoors in without sacrificing your solitude. We pay attention to the hierarchy of spaces, designing staircases as interactive, sculptural elements rather than just functional connectors.

Our approach to villas is rooted in 'built vs unbuilt' principles. We value sustainability, so we prioritize cross-ventilation and natural light to reduce energy reliance. We balance these structural decisions with minimalist interiors, using materials like laterite, wood, and raw concrete to create texture and warmth. Every project is handled with a focus on cost-effectiveness and structural feasibility, ensuring your retreat or residence is built to last.
