About Inspired by Nature
Bringing the outdoors to your studio table doesn't require a green thumb, just a keen eye. In this collection, you'll see how we press fresh leaves directly into wet clay to capture delicate vein structures, a technique you’ll master in our workshops. It's a forgiving process where the texture of a real monstera or ginkgo leaf does all the heavy lifting, giving your finished plate or incense holder that organic, one-of-a-kind finish every time.
Capturing Nature in Clay
Pottery is my way of slowing down. Whether it's the intricate veins of a ginkgo leaf or the simple shape of a papaya leaf, nature provides the best patterns. In my workshops, I teach you how to use these organic elements to create functional art that feels personal and grounded.
Techniques You Will Use
We don't just mimic nature; we collaborate with it.
- Impression Printing: By pressing fresh leaves into soft slab clay, we transfer the natural texture. It’s a rhythmic, meditative process that turns a simple clay slab into a unique decorative piece.
- Animal Sculpting: From my meditative frogs to curious foxes, these small sculptures are about finding joy in form. We use basic hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling to bring these creatures to life.
- Natural Glazing: Our finishing process focuses on earthy tones and beach-inspired colours that complement the raw, leaf-imprinted surfaces.
Workshops for Every Skill Level
You don't need a background in art to start. Most students walk in thinking they aren't creative and leave with a functional piece they're proud of. Whether you join a single-day session to make a leaf-imprinted platter or a 15-day course to dive deep into sculpting, the goal is the same: to find peace in the mess.
The Uttarahalli studio is designed for this—plenty of natural light, plants around us, and the quiet pace needed to focus on your work. Come ready to get your hands dirty, and maybe you'll hear the koel singing outside while we create.
