About Functional Art for Your Home
My pottery process isn't instant. Since I use durable stoneware clay, every piece goes through a slow drying period and two separate kiln firings, the bisque and the glaze. This means your finished, food-safe items will be ready for you to pick up roughly three to four weeks after your session.
Making things with your hands creates a special connection to the objects you use every day. When you hold a mug you formed yourself, it feels different from anything bought off a shelf. In my studio, we focus on creating functional art that stands up to daily life. Whether you are crafting a cereal bowl that needs to be dishwasher-safe or a teapot that pours perfectly, we use stoneware clay precisely because of its strength and durability.
My workshops are designed to guide you through the lifecycle of a ceramic piece. In our 15-day programs, we go deep into techniques like pinching, slab building, and wheel throwing. You aren't just making a pot; you are learning how to trim, refine, and apply glazes that will turn raw clay into a piece of art. If you are just starting out, we keep the group sizes small in our Uttarahalli studio so I can provide personal guidance as you find your rhythm at the wheel or with hand-building tools.
I believe the joy of pottery comes from the process itself—the mess, the quiet focus, and the slight imperfections that make your work truly yours. You do not need any prior art experience to start. By the time you leave, you will have created a set of items that aren't just decorative but are meant to be used, loved, and kept in your kitchen for years.
