My tableware is made for daily use, not just for display. Every plate, bowl, and mug is shaped by hand in my Bengaluru studio, bringing color and personality to your kitchen table.

Watch the process of my hand-painted dinner plates coming to life. I layer colors and then use sgraffito to etch the final floral design, creating a set of unique, artistic plates perfect for any dining table.

This deep blue glazed plate is one of my favorites for its rich, vibrant color. It’s perfect as a dinner plate or a serving platter, turning any meal into a beautifully presented dish.

A quick look at some of my recent work, including a custom commission bowl with a dharma wheel, and a set of small plates featuring intricately detailed, colorful birds.

A showcase of different styles, from a carved vase with a two-tone glaze to a brightly painted floral plate and a spiral-textured dish. This shows the variety you can find in my studio.

My tribute to Van Gogh's "Starry Night," painted inside a handmade ceramic teacup. It’s a little piece of classic art you can hold in your hands while you enjoy your tea.

A close up of a jewel toned ceramic bowl. I love how the glazes blend and create these beautiful, unpredictable patterns, with a swirl at the bottom that draws you in.

This collection shows how I incorporate flowers and melted glass into my tableware. You can see a chip and dip platter with a flower shaped bowl and a piece with a crackled glass center.

Getting my studio ready for a pop up shop. On display are stacks of my popular red flower dinner plates and deep blue soup mugs, ready for Christmas shoppers.

My ceramic pieces are versatile. Here you can see a sgraffito bowl used as a stylish planter and another rustic bowl serving a fresh fig and tomato salad.

A collection of various bowls and other ceramic forms. It includes a cheerful turquoise bowl with small red flowers and a uniquely shaped green dish with a glossy finish.

About Handmade Tableware: Plates, Bowls & Mugs

Because I hand-build these pieces rather than using molds, you will find slight variations in every plate and bowl. I use a high-fire stoneware process, which ensures they are robust and safe for your microwave and dishwasher. If you pick a set, remember that each piece carries its own character—that is the nature of handmade pottery, not a flaw.

When you hold one of my mugs or pasta bowls, you are holding something that was shaped entirely by hand. My process starts with a ball of clay on the wheel or slab, which I then carve, texture, or paint.

For my dining collections, I lean into functional, durable design. I use stoneware clay because it holds up well to high-fire temperatures, making these pieces tough enough for your daily meals. Whether it is a deep-blue glaze that reminds me of the ocean or a simple leaf-impressed mug, these are meant to be used.

The glazes I use are food-grade and lead-free. Because I fire them to high temperatures, you can put your pasta bowls and dinner plates straight into the microwave or dishwasher without worry. The only exception is anything with metallic accents, which I will always note.

I often get asked if these are delicate. While they look unique, they are built for daily life. However, they are handmade, so I suggest avoiding thermal shock—try not to take a bowl straight from the fridge to a screaming hot oven.

I love working with techniques like sgraffito, where I carve through layers of color to reveal the design beneath, and melting recycled glass into the center of plates for that jewel-tone pop. Each piece reflects my mood and the season, which is why my collection is always changing.

I started Oriri Studio because I wanted to see more than just machine-made, soulless items in our homes. I spend my days with muddy hands, focusing on creating pieces that add a bit of joy to your quietest mornings and your busiest dinners.
