Keeping Yoga Light, Real, and Fun in Bangalore

Yoga is a discipline, but it should also make you smile. Here is how we keep the mat fun, honest, and stress-free.

Challenge accepted, and challenge completed. Here's my response to Shilpa Shetty's fitness challenge, with a little Ashtanga twist. Now, the challenge is given back to her.

"Apun khaali technique batayega." (I will only show the technique). This is a funny take on the yoga teacher who only gives instructions. But in my class, the main work is always yours to do.

"Mere body mein sensation hote hain, aur YOGA unko control karta hai." (I have sensations in my body, and YOGA controls them). A fun reference to a classic movie, but it's true. Yoga helps you become the master of your body and mind.

Does this happen to you? Your mind when the class is over, but the yoga teacher starts giving extra gyan (knowledge). I am sometimes guilty of this myself.

The friendly rivalry in a yoga class. Students run away from Chaturanga, but they run towards Shavasana. A fun moment with my brother.

"Why do you love yoga so much?" My mind during yoga is just pure peace and fun. This is a clip of my students enjoying a partner boat pose.

To everyone who thinks flexibility should appear in just one class. This is a humorous take, but the truth is, yoga is a journey of patience and consistent practice.

About this collection

You do not need to be a flexible gymnast to show up for yourself. Whether we are laughing through a partner pose or keeping it real about our shared love for Savasana, the focus remains on consistency. I share these moments because if you can smile while you sweat, you are far more likely to stay on the mat and reach your goals.

Yoga often gets painted as a rigid, silent practice where you cannot breathe without permission. I try to break that myth. When you come to my studio in Bellandur or join my online sessions, you will find that we take our asanas seriously, but we do not take ourselves too seriously.

Why does this matter? Because intimidation is the biggest reason people quit their yoga journey. If you feel like you are failing because you cannot touch your toes or balance in a headstand, you stop showing up. I incorporate humor, challenges, and relatable moments into my classes to keep the vibe grounded. From partner poses that actually require coordination to laughing at the universal struggle of holding a Chaturanga, these moments remind us that everyone starts somewhere.

We incorporate elements like partner boat poses, mobility drills that feel like games, and plenty of jokes about our shared love for Savasana. It is about balancing the intensity of traditional Ashtanga with the lightness of a community that supports you. Whether you are in Sarjapur or joining via a live stream, the goal is the same: to make sure you enjoy the process of becoming stronger, not just the results.
